Maybe the option to switch is only in certain versions. I think Andrew's was Maxthon 3, but not 100%.

That was my thought. Maybe it is an option on Maxthon 3 but not Maxthon Cloud or the other way around.
I still have the lightning bolt on Max 3. It's still working great.
I have the lightning sign on Maxthon Cloud
I am using 4.4.7.1000 and just clicked in options 'switch browser core Ultra > Retro' and back again and now I have the lightning bolt in glorious orange.
