Imagine if the pros switched to my mid-level clubs, they'd be driving 240y instead of 300y. Or if they switched balls, all of a sudden, they'd be all over the place.

If I bought better clubs, I could suddenly gain 50y each shot and stick it right onto the green.

Pros would still score quite well using your mid-level clubs and an el cheapo ball.

Back in the day playing real golf, my handicap went down when I upgraded my clubs/ball.

My biggest improvement on drives with a driver came from upgrading from steel to a composite shaft, a driver face with less loft, and a swing weight of D2.

My biggest improvement relative to irons came from 4 changes:

    1. Going from investment cast to forged club heads (Ben Hogan Apex Percussion Center irons w/a thin top line and a pulled heel.)

    2. Going from regular to stiff shafts (Hogan #4 shafts).

    3. Changing from regular grips w/reminder ribbed grips to velvet cord grips with no reminder rib.

    4. Having the loft and lie of the forged blades regularly adjusted for my swing.

@ Apex maybe not. When Payne Stewart switched from Wilson as his sponsor to Spaulding his game went south. Why? Spaulding forced him to use off the shelf clubs and balls so to speak. He didn't play well until his contract with Spaulding expired and he could use the clubs and balls he wanted to use.

You have all the equipment to make it to Champion.

But I agree , you could be better if you had the same gear as the best.

wgt and most others company's have a  grind process.

p.s I do love my tiger tank !

    It's about retaining new customers.

Hitting a straight shot in WGT is a million times easier than hitting a straight shot in real life.  Distance was compromised in favor of accuracy for the beginner.  In real life, accuracy is compromised instead of distance.  Golf is frustrating in real life for that reason.

They are more likely to retain customers who hit it 250y and straight, rather than drive them away in frustration at 300+ yard drives that can't ever seem to find a fairway.

Everybody having access to everything means Hacks/Ams etc are hitting 300 off the tee.  I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd prefer to not see that.

It's the sign of the times. In real golf all the new clubs and golf balls are killing all the old golf courses that were impossible to make a good score.  Technology has made it easier for everybody.

Same here at Wgt... Clubs and golf balls we had back 5-6 years ago, some of us were struggling to make the fairways on certain courses.  Now everybody has access to great clubs in relation to their level and getting promoted way too quick.

When they get to the black tee's at a low level, then they struggle and start to sook.

Story of life...  in real life or within Wgt

It'd be funny if beginner could pick up golf and immediately hit 225 on their drives.

At the same time, it'd be funny if I switched to TaylorMade R15s in real life and could immediately hit it 285 yards.

But you're right. If it was even close to the difficulty of real golf, no one would play.

That's funny ? You are laughing ? Allow me to help you.....of the four things Apex listed, his attention and devotion to the loft & lie was by miles the most important thing
