    DynastyGolf0:

What about comparing it to the top TaylorMade, the 242y one? I'm thinking about upgrading to Big Bertha, but I'm worried about sacrificing so much forgiveness for a few yards.

The top Taylor made has a full dot more for forgiveness than the BB (3.5 vs 2.5), and also has a decent meter speed (3.0)...I was seriously looking at this one before I settled on the Max...but I haven't used it.

As for the distance, rated at 242 yds, it seems plenty long to me.

Sometime down the road I might try the BB L97 myself.  Will wait and see.

HMMM, I'm the weird one here....I find the L97 to be MUCH longer off the tee, a lot longer off the fairway, and MUCH LESS forgiving off the tee and less forgiving from the fairway....

Both awesome clubs if you ding them, I have both and switch them regularly

As the others have already said. They are both good and unforgiving, so I would get  the one that goes further.

I guess my problem is the 235yd shots where 3i cant go and have to choke down the 3wd.. With the L89 BB its about fine .. Simply coz there are more 235yd shots that need to be reached on the green than 260yd ones.. Ideally a 235yd hybrid solves all that.

I can live with the less forgiveness as I do give my shots a fair margin..  I was looking to try the R11s but they were discontinued.. And on renting i found the R15s to not be in the same league as BB in performance...

Yea, its a lottery. I use my 3 iron with no back spin to go about 230 and over spin to get a little more. The 235 hybrid would be nice if we could choose our clubs.

It is a hole in one at Merion #10 that lands about 3ft long and receives back-spin to go in.

Great shot there SP, an absolute peach.

Oh hell yeah, miss the ding with the wind and you better get your hiking boots on and take lunch with you.

I agree about the higher level one being more forgiving though, in the same way that a 4lb hammer in the face is less painful than a 6lb one.

    :))      hehe  ..

So true. But, anyone at those levels is not new, and knows the score. There is really no excuse to be missing the ding with 3.5 meter clubs, no excuse.  ~ SP ~

Like the basketball scouts say "you can't teach 7 feet", I say "you can't teach 250 yards".

On BoP5 it's an easy choice.  In overall play, you lose a bit of stopping power with the 97, but even with FBS and a couple percent of choke, it'll still go the distance you want and not roll forever.  If you're a proficient putter, the 97 is a much better way to go because of sheer versatility, and what little precision you lose by choking up a few yards, you can make up for with a 15 foot putt.
