I have been teased (not often) about being a level 105 legend. Many TLs and Champions are lower levels than me. But I have a completely different goal...I only play Alternate (and some MP) as I find it generally relaxing and enjoy meeting people. I've even been accused of sandbagging (odd to be called that as a legend) because I usually play better than my average suggests...I am a 68 avg and generally play around 63 or 64 avg. But there is never anything on the line, and fun is the only goal. My Alt record is about 50-50, so the bell curve is alive and well.

What I don't understand, and a few of you have mentioned it, is why anyone would want to fast track to TL or Champion by hitting from close tees?...they certainly won't play in money tournaments, as the really good players will wipe the floor with them...is it simply bragging rights then?...if so, a very strange thing to brag about....no idea

...to each his own I guess.

    greatwhitedale:

now since the introduction of champion tier, i think we need to change the tees for some tiers, theres a huge ability gap with tour legends and mainly champion tier players but legends have to share same tee,  and i think theres not so much of a gap between tour master and legend, so..... how bout we put legends back on the tourmaster tees, and then the tour legends and champions play on there current tee, that way there dosnt need to be so much of a change made by wgt having to introduce complete new tees further back for tour legends and champion tiers.  ????

The huge ability gap as you call it is not from the tee. The huge ability gap between legends, TL's and Champions is on the green! Many of us high level legends are still only legends because we putt badly or don't putt all that well.

I certainly cant argue with that...and I am living proof that the actual putter used, makes only a small difference in the hands of an average player. I have basically tried them all. Alas, without the ability to accurately read break and speed, average is the best I can hope for. That said, for the really good players, a high end putter probably helps quite a bit.
