    oneeyedjohn:
If I click on my uploaded picture and then r-click that and copy image URL, that doesn't work when I post it, I can see it, but anyone else cannot.

The direct link is always the second one down in a long list of codes when it works for me.

Me thinks that "click on picture" may lead you the wrong way.

When uploading is complete, the pic is shown, and a window of links:

(edit: if it's less than 1 MB)

The second is "Direct Link". You need to know that I (and you?) may only copy it to the paste buffer when it's blue (mouse in place but no click) and then use Ctrl/C.

The left button "Copy to buffer" doesn't work for me.

Do you have an account with postimg? If so, you may look up the pic in the list and click "Show Codes" below. Then the same window opens - same procedure.

And finally, the funny pic itself, from a youtube video "I Charleston St. Andrews" (0:31):

Note that they (legally) access the course while golfers are in action.

Would it be possible for you to post an example of that right click image URL that doesn't work correctly for you John?

This is it Scott, I clicked the image in my Postimg gallery to get the larger view

    and I get this

However if I r-click the bike picture and copy image URL, this is what I get

    http://s26.postimg.org/a4e545q87/Untitled20160106095009.png

Now I can see that pic, but can U.

In my CC forum I get complaints saying "can't view pic" when I do it this way.

But when I use the direct link if it appears as an option, then it works perfectly.

So my question is why am I getting two different sets of codes for some uploaded pics and not others.

    Hi John,

I think the problem you're having is because the image is too large. I downloaded the motorbike pic to my Mac and it's 1.1MB.

I've encountered this issue in the Tough-It-Out events, and any file that's over 1MB seems to upload into postimage.org slightly differently, resulting in no 'Direct Link' option.

This is the standard text I use on the opening page of each TIO event as part of the screenshot recommendations (from this complete post):

    Corwyn:
My recommended free hosting service is: http://postimage.org/ -- free, and no signup required) which will provide you with a 'direct link' which you paste in after clicking the 'Insert Media' button above. Please note though that images must be under 1MB in size to get the Direct Link to appear.

So, if you have the means in your photo-editing program, choose a Save for Web option, and prefer jpg format over png (which typically is much larger than jpg) and mess around with the quality options to get a file size that's smaller... prior to uploading it to postimage.org or whichever service you're using.

    Hope that helps,

    Corwyn

    P.S. ...

    No, I can't!

Maybe this will help, a member of our CC, good old Phil posted a few vids to help us all with postimage.

Everyone in our club has been using it for over a year at least.

He has a short little Youtube vid bypassing all the click this and click that......not sure what y'all are having problems with...

but give this short 2 minute vid a look...hopefully it helps

Okay John, here's what I would do.

    Copy the 'Link'...

...paste that into your browser address bar, hit enter...

...right click on the image that opens, copy the image address / image URL and use that to post your picture to the forum.

(I think you might have been doing that anyway, lol, oh well).

If that is a problem, there is a resize option.

Hey Scott you like using the HTML code. Would that HTML Code (bottom one) link work if John pasted that code in using the HTML option here?

Yes, that would work (might have to tweak the size though). Also, the image would become a clickable link to Postimage.org and there would be a text link under the image, also to Postimage.org

@ tigersfan Itried to do what the vid said but couldn't get postimg as a clickable link in Start, I have it bookmarked already so I just login to that and upload to my gallery.

@ Corwyn, I liked ur explanation best, so I reset the image properties to jpeg as suggested and the file size changed to 134Kb, and I uploaded it and got a direct link.

Here it is, I can see it, and I bet u can too.

@Scott I'll keep u in reserve, and Z's idea as well.

    So everyone, size does matter.
