My putting is  never great. Since birth here, I have always used the 15-30 scale and use the 96 Versa. I have never got cozy with the champion speed greens...ever. Jimbog was kind enough to provide useful help regarding his strategy but I am still shakey with this speed. I am going to buy the 101 M2, which is a different scale that I believe will provide improvement....at least it seems that way on paper. What is your take on this $48 guess ?

    Sweetie

I won't comment on the putter itself (mine is the L77 Nike) but I do like the 10-20-50ft scale far better than I ever did the 15-30 scale

I find it easier (now) to calculate speed and therefore distance - once I got used to the different stop points

I will say also that I usually keep my shots to below the 70% mark - seems to make it easier to hit (or not hit) the ding

Yes it works well as a "mis-ding" also

The m1 is just as good and a good bit slower.

SP...you are a TL with a 51 average...seriously, how far away from the hole is your average putt?...if it's meter speed that matters, the level 70 versa is slower than all of them ...combine this with a quality nike or max ball, and you'd have time to make coffee before the meter made it to the ding.

The M1 and the M2 are the same putter with different scales. I use the M1 and find it to be better than any of the putters I've had before it. Dings are deadly with it but it also plays well off-ding. It rolls true and smooth and I found it to be a nice improvement over the 96 Versa I had before it.

It doesn't happen instantly, you have to give it a number of rounds over a number of days to get acclimated to it. I think it was worth it for me.

The problem is not your putter its the green speed . Remember we went through this back when WGT lowered the nike putters 5 levels during the summer . Most of us held off then thinking that a new putter was going to be added to the pro shop .

Putting is the most iffy part of the game but it can be improved upon by every player . You just need to practice , practice and do more practice . Play stroke play practice rounds and use the rock . Your focus will be on your putting so nothing else will matter .

Start with Bethpage as your practice course and work from there .Kiawah is also a great practice course to start on when it comes to putting . I`m a firm believer that if you cant do it with the clubs you have , then you wont do it with the clubs you get . So hold off and play more practice rounds first .

You have a great putter in the 96+ Versa , the 101+ nike is just its competitor and nothing more . Although YJ  has it and swears by it , his putting stats arent that much better than yours . So its not that much of a game changer for the most part . So start with the cheaper solution which would be practice more since you practice for free .

You of all people should know how worthless stats are, especially in putting. It takes astronomical numbers to change a percentage of 56,000+ putts and I daresay I'm a substantially better putter today than what those stats indicate. I'm sure you are, too, although you have considerably less so yours are probably more accurate.

Green speeds have nothing to do with the ability of a putt to hold a line, the precision and particularly balance of a putter do that. As an avatar-move putter it is easy for me to adjust to those speeds but what makes the putter really work for me is the way it rolls true.

The difference is subtle-it took me a few weeks to really get the putter down but now that I have I find it immensely superior to the putters I've applied the same study to that I have used in the past-- Anser, Redwood, Ghost, Ghost, Versa and now the M1.

I never considered the M1 a game changer. More of a game fine-tuner.

No Jim stats arent worthless nor are they carved in stone . S/P has only played 693 more rounds than you so a fair assessment can be made . Also green speed has a lot to do with a putt holding its line . It also affects the break of a putt and the distance a putt travels.

I too use avatar movements when putting and I also putt missing the ding and have good results . Although balance and forgiveness are important in helping a putt hold its line the firmness of the putt in combination to speed and proper read will determine putting success .

I love these wonderful debates with you , you can get the juices flowing and liven things up .:-)
