I've tried Richards method, you still whiff if you use too little power, no merit to it.
QFT... you get in a position on the fringe (Oakmont, tournament grees esp.) where you are close to the hole, say under 15 feet, and it's more than a few inches downhill, there is no scale that will not whiff because you have to use sooo little power to pace it to the hole.
So your choices are... too much power and pray it hits the pin, or chip...... and pray it hits the pin..... not much of a choice is it? Oakmont #2 and Oakmont #5(par 3?) come to mind immediately.
