Interesting addition concerning the yard fraction.
Alas, nitpickingly, would it not be 17.9 inches, with a full yard being 36 inches?
It could be .90 inches or 35.9 inches depending exactly where the exact yard landed in relation to the center of the hole or the pin. The example I used was 50yds, so for our purposes we'll use that again.
Say I find myself 50 yds from the hole with no real wind to consider. I click on pitch view then click on the camera icon finding my self viewing from just behind the hole. Upon dragging the aimer backwards, it immediately goes to 51 yds. I usually try to at least figure back of the hole for yardages, a little more on putts but that's a whole different story.
So now instead of just adding or subtracting elevation yardage to what the rounded or suggested yardage is, I add/ subtract that figure to what the true distance to the hole is and get as accurate a yardage as you possibly can.
Camera angle in relation to the players angle also should be figured, not just to account for proper aim/wind allowance, but also for line of flight true distance in relation to. ( As the crow flies thingy as Courteney ^^^ pointed out above)
I understand this all may seem a bit anal, but believe me once you know your clubs max limitations, pinpoint distance control is possible. For an example, adding fts on a 50 shot into even a stiff breeze, can accurately stretch a shot past the clubs limitations without it wildly rolling past the hole, or stopping way short because of shorting myself on the basic starting yardage distance, even before allowing for elevation.
