Does anyone have a tried and true method for this? We have a year long club championship tournament that consists of an 18 hole round monthly. We subtract handicap strokes for lower tiers in order to have one set of YTD standings. If 50 players compete in this, how would you apply monthly points for a year long running standings?

Giving the first place finisher 50 points and the 50th place finisher 1 point seems easy enough but not quite fair to the winner to gain just a one point edge over runner up and so on. Would also like to see the 50th place finisher get more than one point just so as not to discourage them from continuing on. Any ideas?

Try giving premium to the top 5 - then taper off the pts.

    100, 80, 70, 60, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25   for the top 10 places

    then 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11,    takes you down to 20th place

then everyone after that that completes the round gets 10

    This discourages WDs

You can play with the numbers however your club wants - but bonus points at the top, and a flat score just for finishing out of the places works well to promote participation.

You might take reference from the winnings chart in the FAQ =>
It gives the percentage for 70 players (in the CC section, one for 10 players) and strongly favours the upper places.

And I second this detail or any other socket amount:

then everyone after that that completes the round gets 10

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.  I had thought about using the winnings chart but then remembered what I usually received for finishing in the 60-70th places, lol. Basically nothing. Both suggestions and the combined of the two as well, are great foundations for me to work with. Thanks again!
