Have you ever considered offering free golf balls as an incentive? I'm just saying. It might be something you would want to consider.
I'd rather lose my balls, than offer anything other than good friends and plenty of knowledge to be shared. We've made it 3 years without buying members and what do you get anyway??? Heck I just cut 38 this morning for not playing, we have a good solid core of players, don't need more than that. I bring them in, some stick, some slide off the wall.
I agree...and that's a problem some of the bigger CCs have. It's always about the quantity and not the quality...often, their numbers are artificially inflated, as many of the members are dead wood...haven't played or participated in their CC for months (or years in some cases)
Our CC has never been more than 100 members and we currently stand at 88. We vet as best we can before they join, warn folks if they haven't participated in 3 months, and boot them after 6 months. We cater mainly to military and first responders, so obviously we make exceptions if they are deployed or incapacitated in some way. No system is perfect, but a little work at the front end, saves a bunch of headaches down the road.

ps...wgt as a company does this also. They quote between 14-21 million accounts...but how many are active?...I would be surprised if there are even 50,000 world wide, that actually play wgt on a regular basis.
