    Antwilliam:
people who I believe just want to play golf, it is, as you know, the nearest some of us will ever get to a real course, for a variety of reasons...

Your remark about what we're being shown looking like pinball machines was hilarious!

I want to say that I submitted a post that didn't make it past the moderators and had much of the same sentiment stated above.  TOPGolf's driving ranges are not driving ranges for golfers.  They are like a "20-30 something's" Chuckie Cheese.  It a hangout for people who never hit a real course...well maybe 5% of there clientele.

WGT Golf was for the game's purists and want-to-be golfers who can't for whatever reason.  If that goes away and fizzles that would be a travesty.  I think Golf Network would stop covering the likes of fmagnets ever again.

So...hopefully...the big boys are listening to the golfers who enjoy the site.  Having us play for coins is missing the mark completely.  So far, that's all you've showed us.  A great game about to become an arcade fiasco.

You have to show us some serious thought at some point.

Ant made a nice post, IMO.

More abruptly it was a complete takeover for the needs of TG only, unless you fly in the face of the official announcement. TG now have their fast intellectual property, and so here things are in flux.  All the promises or good will going from the bad track record dpt don't change that.  No offense as well intended and genuine for good reasons I am sure much of it is that's where it is at.

The place was underfunded as was obvious for a good time.  It was sold because it was not driving forward, and now sold has little say.

I look forward to a real announcement from the horses mouth.  My guess is they will spend some on proper forensic accountants to ascertain revenue streams if Chad etal have sold it enough.  Once done they will decide what stacks up.  Until then this is another forum thread..........

My gut feel is it's an arm that still has worth, and can go places.  My hope is the new owners feel the same, and I await what they say..........Until then enjoy what is in front of you if that suits.  If a lower level CC member asked me what to do I would say buy real careful as no one knows where it's going...........Having said that to a lot of people it's still cheap as chips entertainment....

Shoe is in the camp of  "don't worry, be happy".  I've relied on him a few times and he has never let me down, so I'm gonna give his view the benefit of the doubt. It is scary for the many who are housebound, due to age or illness...this is their reality...their life. All of their friends are on here (virtual, but still friends)...from this could be phone calls, perhaps even visits.

Do I worry for them?...yes. But given the lack of hard evidence to the contrary, I will trust Shoe.

I would worry if I worked for WGT, often when another company takes over another company, they put their own employees in, basically, out with the old in with the new., and honestly, the track record of fixes and just plain stuff ups on here is very bad.  Just sayin.

well this forum was a lot of reading.....

Congrats to WGT on being acquired

    just a few brief comments

This forum post is the first i can remember where WGT people where actualy engaging and responding to the communities posts extremely timely.   That has to be a first that i can recall in my years here.  So this transition is obviously a concern to them.

My looking into the net posts on the acquisition, the press conference and reports all point to the growth of  TopGolf's vision.  So the aquisition of WGT is to enhance TopGolf's vision.  It appears that this vision is to incorporate the technology and library of golf venues into TopGolf's worldwide locations and merge TopGolf's digital content into the existing WGT structure. Also TopGolf now has the community of players of WGT to promote the expansion of TopGolf venues throughout the world and increase their digitial footprint in the industry.  All good things for TopGolf for sure. However this does not at all indicate a promotion or expansion of the existing PC WGT game that currently exists.  At best, improvements or expansion of the WGT game as we know it would only occur if they were to be integral to the expansion and vision of TopGolf. Nothing has been revealed to indicate any such changes except a new course to be added in 2017 as we still await the long delayed introduction of Pebble Beach Back 9.

Myself and many others here hope to continue to enjoy the gaming platform that WGT has created.  Despite the occasional problematic gliches and our never ending desire for new courses and gaming formats. We all have enjoyed the game immensely and for that I say Thank you.

But my gut feeling here is that our expectations of growth and improvement of the gaming platform that currently exists as WGT will not be a priority of TopGolf, and this is quite understandable.

Congrats again to WGT, best wishes, been a good run for sure.  Best of luck to TEG and TopGolf.

    best regards

This was a smart move by WGT (assuming they got decent $).

As a player of virtual golf games since 1989, I see they all have common history, namely a shelf life of about 3-5 yrs before folks start to move on. Everyone raves about the "new, vastly improved graphics and physics" before starting to rail against the bugs and lack of new courses. Adding new courses really only delays the inevitable, and the race is on for the company (be it Sega, Links, TW or whatever) to hang on to the $ trail as long as possible.

I've been on WGT for a few months, and see the trend is no different. Looks like they have been losing traction for a while (2-3 years?). The problem is that there's only so much you can actually do to a golf game to keep it fresh. Like other golf simulations, I pretty much reached peak 'skill' after a few days, and the vast majority of improvements came from better equipment and learning the quirks of the game and specific courses. I generally doodle at it while my wife is watching a Hallmark movie - definitely a great way to pass the time. I'm Legend but think it unlikely I'll bother with TL - 500+ rounds is just silly.

So, as one who has pretty much  mined WGT has to offer, I  do not really care about what comes down the road. TopGolf looks tacky and I hope they overpaid for WGT.

So, as one who has pretty much  mined WGT has to offer,

You may believe that playing WGT has no gameplay surprises left for you (because you have "reached peak 'skill' " but saying you have mined all WGT has to offer is, to use your word, silly.

You may not be interested in playing with and against other players on here (as you don't belong to a Country Club) and that's fine, and you may only have been interested in levelling up as quickly as possible (like most gamers), and that's fine too. Everyone is different.

But there are whole other dimensions to this game and the social side is a big part of that. Match Play and Alternate Shot are a different dynamic to simply testing yourself and in my opinion if you're not in a (good) Country Club then you're missing a whole world that is on offer here. In that respect (and many others) this golf simulation is somewhat like the real game...if you all you do is play by yourself then that is somewhat limiting your potential enjoyment.

I'm not saying that you should go off and join a CC because if that's not your thing then good luck to you. But stating that you've "mined" all WGT has to offer when it appears you haven't even tried a large part of it is simply inaccurate and sounds a bit arrogant quite frankly.

Good luck with whatever game you play next sir.
