Oakmont #1, front pin, 2nd shot, 172 yards to pin, down 35 feet, 12-14mph left to right crosswind at roughly 3:30.  L100 Nike Vapor irons, WGT Legend GI2SD2 vapor ball.  I aimed 5 yds left of the pin expecting a landing 7-10 yards right of the pin & a hard left rollout to the pin.  I hit 165 yards (full 100% 7i), 80% backspin & dinged the shot.  Guess where it landed?

    Wrong!

The ball landed pin high 10 yards LEFT of the hole (5 yards UPWIND of the aimer!!) and rolled a couple of yards left onto the fringe.

This is waaaaaaaay outside the expected precision circle for a starter iron.  How does this crap happen with 5.1 precision, 4495cr Vapors?

    Makes you wonder....

what happend's to me a lot on this hole is none to very little wind effect in right to left wind conditions. I expaind this to myself by the row of tree's along the right side of the fairway.

where the tree's block of most of the wind.

Not sure the game actually takes this into concideration, but i have run into other holes as well where this would have explained the strange condition.

    Solarflares:
To implement an effect as you describe with the trees?   Unfortunately there is no way of doing this at present.

Why not?  Why couldn't the physics model get input for each hole?  My notes are full of notations where I account for left to right and head/down wind differently.  For example, ocean side holes, Par 3s in particular, off shore breezes affect the ball more than on shore breezes.  I'm just sayin' don't rule out the possibility.

BPB#8 is a perfect example. It plays so erratic you have to wonder if the trees are keeping the wind from affecting the shot with the front pin. The back pin takes a longer, flatter shot and seems to play fairly consistent, like the shot stays under the treeline, unlike the high arc shot you use on the front pin where the shot goes above the treeline.

I was under the impression that variations to the winds effects were factored into the game play, dependant on topography and landscape. I'd be quite surprised if they're not.

    Doc :)

Yeah, got notes all over that front pin, r to l has more effect than l to r.  And my backpin notes are simpler, so I agree its more consistent.

Another example are many of the holes on Bandon Dunes with high winds on the holes with big elevation drops. The winds have more time to move the shots.

But the OP's example could have just been the old mouse not releasing the cursor and moving his aim marker. If he was paying as much attention to his club as he say he was he could just have missed the aim marker moving and only seeing the poor results of the shot. I am sure that has happened to us all.

@ solar Flare it happens even in the mobile game because  the cursor is so much easier to move by accident. Because you just move it with your finder or a stylus and don't have to press and hold a mouse button to move it. Even the slightest movement of your finger or stylus before you lift it off of the cursor can move the aim mark several yards.

the ball always go more to the left on hole number 1 at oakmont than you expect
