They can, but you generally don't do that unless there is a major failure (e.g the meter doesn't stop when clicked). Unfortunately, a bad UX decision likely does not outweigh the expectations from Cobra to have their equipment delivered at the agreed upon time.
I fear we're stuck with the flashy, at least until the next release when they offer an old-school option. I could be wrong, but it appears that WGT doesn't like to do hotfixes unless something is really wrong.
