I checked the stats of a "multiaccounter":
First day, first ranked game:
01.16.11 Kiawah Island: The Ocean Course Front 9 Hack 36
Day two, Amateur:
01.17.11 Bethpage Black Front 9 Amateur 32
Day 4, Pro:
01.19.11 Kiawah Island: The Ocean Course Front 9 Pro 32
Day 15, Tour Pro
01.31.11 Kiawah Island: The Ocean Course Back 9 Tour Pro 33
Day 26, Master
02.11.11 Kiawah Island: The Ocean Course Front 9 Master 35
So it takes less than a month to go from Hack to Master for a medium talented person. A real beginner would of course need more time, but it is still a bit too easy. I remember being a bit surprised (and even a bit disappointed) when I all of a sudden was a Pro. At that time I had hardly even glanced at my scores and the shop. I was a total newbie with a Pro stamp.
I do not think it hurts anyone if the progress is slower.
