Currently i own the taylormade irons which includes a pitching wedge. My other 2 wedges are the sandwedge and lob wedge and theyre the basicc started clubs.

I'm a bit confuesed about what to upgrade to, I'm at level 36 and at 39 there's a whole bunch of wedges unlock  but there's 52d, 56d and 60d, if i buy these can i replace the sandwedge and or the lobwedge. I think the 56 and 60d are lob wedges but what replaces the sandwedge?

Also whats recommended, the Z range from taylormade?

Any advice would be most welcome.

It's a toss-up between the TM and Ping wedges.  I prefer the TM's for the feel and spin they generate when needed.  The best way I've found is to select wedges that give you close to equal distances from your PW down.  For example, my PW is 115 yrds.  My wedges are all TM and are 54W at 98 yrds, 60W at 77 yrds, and 64W at 50 yrds.  You can accomplish pretty much the same thing with the Ping wedges with the shortest yardage being 60 yrds.

I don't carry a hybrid as it's not necessary.  That allows me to carry 4 wedges including a PW.  You'll find that if you look at the top 10 money winners' clubs there's a likeness among them all when it comes to wedge selection with a few subtle differences that are personal preference.

The best thing to do is experiment with all the wedges you're interested in and go with what works best for you.

    Best of luck!

Don't think  LW,PW or SW-think yardages. The 64w and the 60w should be automatic and I prefer the Satins. You can get away with more because they forgive plus they spin better. Like Steelers, I carry 4 wedges because the coverage close in goes from 110 yds to 4 yds, using all the shots. 4 might be an extreme at the start but 3 is definitely a need.

I would look at whatever it takes for you to bridge the yardage gap from the 60w (77 yds if Satin) to the set PW. 90-100 yards is probably where you will get the best coverage. GL

why not carry a hybrid? what do you fill the range between say the 3-iron and the 3-wood with? There's a pretty good gap in distance there.

They both do the same thing and count how many times you needed one instead of the other, let alone needed either one. Steelers in a fan of the 4 wedge club, like me.  :-)

Leave the hybrid out, punch with your 3W and you have the yardage gap filled.

I like the Satins and the Tour W 60d, which is pretty nice.

PS: a 64d is a must-have. Never leave it out of your bag :)

At St.Andrews except for an occasional very long second shot on # 14 you don't even need a 3 wood there. I use driver and 4 wedges there and  a lot of times I use that set-up at Kiawah island as well.I do carry a 3 wood and only 3 wedges at BPB and Oakmont due to the fact that there are more times that I feel I need the length of the 3 wood there than the other 2 courses. But that being said at times I will even drop the 3 wood on those 2 courses as well. The point being with the higher level iron sets the 3 iron has great distance and most of the par 5's are not reachable in 2 without getting you in some big trouble and they can be reached at times with the 3 iron. and at St. Andrews i have reached # 5 with as high as an 8 iron even from the master tees.and # 14 is so hard to hold from a long distance that it is better to lay up and try to stick it close with one of your wedges. For me the more wedges you can add the better. So Far the only par 4 I have seen except from the tournament tees that needs a 3 wood to reach is # 7 @ BPB  and the long par 3 #8 at Oakmont from the master tees is too short for a driver and too long for the 3 iron.

maybe this is a question for the WGT people, but why are the Ping meter speeds  higher than the other brands??  I looked at the meter speeds in the Pro Shop and could not believe the difference.

---------whoops, my bad! Guess the TM and Ping were not so much different, the one I clicked on first was a WGT wedge.
