Today I was in an Alt-Shot game with an abusive player. He verbally abused his partner, my female partner and myself. I repeatedly told him to stop and he would not.

I used suggest drop and he wouldn't accept it...so the game continued.

He was verbally abusive to my Amateur female and calling her names that I choose not to repeat here...yep that word with the "C"

We really need a button where we can drop them as soon as this happens so it does not affect the the partner of that player.

I think this would be of great assistance so as not to penalize the partner player.

    Thoughts?

And Yes..we all reported him via members @..TY

    CS,

Sad and perplexing why someone would do that ?

I would also encourage "screen saves" of the chat abuse to be forwarded to members@worldgolftour.com as well. I am confident WGT would boot them off the site, as has been done to people like this numerous times in the past.

I also hope that WGT would somehow "flag" the ISP address so they could not rejoin under an alias, they may already do this...not sure.

Would that be the same amateur partner that couldn't quit fast enough when she saw me join your AS game? I'd be real curious to know what the other side of that exchange was.

    Canine Supervisor,

This has also occurred to myself on more than one occasion.

I think strangemagic is right though. There would need to be some kind of reporting facility built into it. This is just so that you cannot simply delete a player because he's 5 shots ahead or something, it could be open to all types of abuse. There needs to be some form of regulation/fine for deleting someone for anything other than abusive behaviour.

A lot of the verbal abuse that happens on this site comes from Tour Pro level + players. Yes, we know know we're not as good as you are, that's why we are playing you, TO IMPROVE, so give us a break!!! You were Amateur or Pro once you know!!!!!!

At the end of the day this is a GAME!!!!! What pleasure does someone derive from this sort of behaviour? I have encountered many players on here, that if they spoke that way to me for real would be looking for the teeth they no longer have. i've only just turned pro and if I meet new players I try to encourage them along, give them hints and tips etc, bearing in mind I'm nowhere near brilliant myself.

I think the idea has merit but it also has potentially huge problems too. Maybe this is something WGT can look at?

Well, not quite sure I agree with this. I had a bad A/S round over a week ago where my partner turned very abusive towards all involved in the game. Myself and one of the other players contacted WGT about the player, the other player sent a few screen shots, I sent 8 in total (7 of abuse, one of him having multiple accounts).

The result? 5 days later I receive a SCRIPTED email saying:

    "Dear WGT User,

Though we fully encourage all players to adhere to the Community Guidelines there will be times when some players choose to take out their frustrations in inappropriate ways using obscene or insulting language.

We strongly recommended that you do not respond to offensive language. Replying will escalate the issue, give the abuser what they want from you (your attention), and further waste your time.  We advise that you ignore them or choose to walk away.

    • If the offensive language takes place in the WGT forums, please click the Report Abuse link at the bottom of the post containing the profanity.
    • If the offensive language takes place on your Wall, on their Profile, or during a match, please reply to this email, attaching a screenshot of the offensive dialog.  (If you need help taking and hosting screenshots, please see the post here: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/14726.aspx)

We will investigate your report and take the appropriate action against the individual.  We can not make public the results of our investigations against another player."

And guess what? His account remains. WGT have lost a customer in me, I will not spend another penny on this game...I just hope that this guy spends enough money to make up for that

Noobster-Deleting the account isn't what happens, as it shouldn't. Smacking the guy upside the head with a warning is typical and should be. You can't arbitrarily bounce an account for a discretion like this without a heads up. Jeez, this place would be a ghost town if they did. And now you're going to deprive yourself of this fun to prove what? Move on, he got smacked, I'm sure.   ;-)

It's nice to see that this thread has not gone off color, as so many threads here do.

All the thoughts I have read above have merit.

WGT really needs to do something about this as is exampled by StrangeMagic's thought re: screen capture of the offensive dialog.

But somehow i doubt there is any consideration forthcoming at this time.

Maybe they could write some code (via a button) that the game creator can access to block that sort of language when it does occur and forward the text of such message to them for appropriate actions such as a formal admonishment or removing some points from their level, something.

As previously stated: I was amazed that one would use such language to another player, and then retaliate on the the other two players for asking it to stop.

I have no problem with someone complaining about whats fair and whats not, but come on, offensive name calling is for school children--not adults.
