    I fully agree with MM's thoughts on the game today. It was well penned and on point. In my case, putting has always been the problem. Maybe putting is the weak spot for most people. Not easy to land consistently close approach shots given winds, etc. So challenging putts will occur.

    I have tried the best putters available in the pro shop. But, I can only read "break and speed" at an average level, thus my putting remains avg as well.

    I have even spoken to people who use that 400K gold putter. They say it's nothing special and it certainly doesn't help with reading greens. I guess there will simply be a plateau. Good equipment helps, but has diminishing returns. If a person is born with good hand-eye coord and timing, and is blessed with a smooth meter, they will do well. Else, average to good is what most of us can hope for, regardless of how much we spend in the pro shop.

    I must agree since it is my case too. Great to gifted putting separates the field and is easy to recognize. Most of us continue to plug along in hope of becoming gifted but it just doesn't happen....with any putter, so we seek clubs that can help us to hit it closer.

    It's a common misunderstanding that getting top equipment makes you a better player.

    I raced up to high levels to get more expensive equipment and the fact was that I lowered my average faster w/ L59 Pings than w/ N85s & 97s. This may be different for long time players and champions and the area of the 'plateau' which you mentioned, but I should have stayed w/ the L59 irons much longer.

    I am sure this is true. Nevertheless, understanding this to be true doesn't seem to erase the desire for something new/different/or better. There is always a market to change up just to change up. WGT could look at the new Callaway XR driver designed/engineered hand in glove with Boeing, or the new Ping G* driver or perhaps the new Odyssey Works Versa Marksman Fang putter (jeez, what a name), or the new Taylor Made M2 irons, or offer the Ping G* 3,4,5 crossover long irons or the full set of Ping G* irons, or even something creative and just for kicks, the Winn Grips 20th Anniversary Dry-Tacs because they are copper colored and appear to look like leather. WGT has abundant ways to go ;-}

    On a similar theme...

    Never having suffered from "Jonesin"  leaves me wondering if it's contagious?

    If the answer is yes; umm...  fancy a game, Larry Lily ?
