Choosing balls under 500 credits.

  The only thing I would add is to not expect a dramatic impact on your scores with the more expensive balls. I would say that, on average, I only score about half a stroke or so better (per 9 holes) with the Nike 81 balls over the Callaway 33 balls. So for right now, the extra expense isn't worth it to me, even though I have a fair amount of credits built up.
  
  With the Callaways, I can score consistently pretty well. Not great, but good. And the upside with the Callaways is that they're cheap enough that I don't get too upset when I have a lost ball. Maybe when I get closer to moving to the next tier, I'll switch to the more expensive balls to get my score low enough to move up. With the Callaways, I project that I'll probably get my average down to around 61 or maybe a bit lower by the end of the year.

  I'm also a Cally L33 fan.  Not the soft though, not yet anyway.  I still have a fair few of the old Chrome balls I'm working my way through.

  I think I'm right in saying that, using the old system, these balls have the best dots/credits ratio of any ball available.  When I see the price of the top balls here it makes my own ones shrink right back into my body  : )

  The key is to stick with one type and learn exactly how it reacts on any shot.  Sure, you may be a bit shorter off the tee but if you can hit your long irons to within 10 feet of the pin you'll still post good scores.  Maybe even better than the next guy who plays a mega buck ball but doesn't really know how hard to hit it for that tricky between clubs shot.

  Very true Johnny, by far the best value clubs WGT ever sold, replaced by ones costing many times as much with the same specs.

  It's a Q of product availability IMHO. Once a club or ball isn't on sale any more IRL, they will delete or replace it.

  Examples: ATV for Z Satin, G25 for G20 (for G15 for G10), Cally ball exchanges (at least two for the L33 balls)...

  On the same note, the 64° Ping wedge has been dropped quite a while ago, making these nice and cheap clubs more or less useless as a set. The reason is that Ping - officially - doesn't offer any more 64° wedges for real golf.

  Like many others, Cally 33 is my ball and has been for years.  It's the "bang for the buck" ball.

  Any Nike is an upgrade, but those are for people who pay to play or win enough in MPC/tournies to self-fund themselves in super-balls.
