I love the idea of a best ball format for this game. I had it in my old game LinksLs and it was my favorite mode to play, next to the scramble one.
I run an event in our CC using a contrived two-person team best/ball format. We'd get 12 or so teams and see which team would come out on top. The base for it was stroke play in practice mode. I would set the course lay-out to be played, and then allow for solo play, team play, group play, however i could get a score to calculate the best ball score ( post the scorecard or manually post a score ) from it. Takes a bit of time and effort, but i made a mock scorecard of the course to enter the team scores on, and then tally the best/ball score with it. Was a lot of fun, and folks enjoyed it. We are a small CC so it worked well for us, might be a big headache in a large CC, unless you get multiple people to break down the score's.
