Seems very foolish for me to spend money on a video game, let alone one that has so many issues. I mean seriously LOL. Its kind of pathetic.

You dont have to buy credits or spend any money to play the game . Top of the page"GET CREDITS" on the drop down tab click on "Earn Free Credits" . You can do surveys or watch video ads to get credits for ball purchases and club upgrades . You can also buy things like flowers for your mom or wife and earn credits or magazine subscriptions also .

I have been here for 5 years now and never spent a penny on this game . It just takes time but you can do it as many of us have done so .Hope this helps and good luck with your game . Oh and welcome to WGT its a fun game to play and full of good people that will help you if you ask . :-)

What happened with me, and probably others, is that I got tired of getting my butt kicked because my opponents had better equipment. it isn't that expensive to upgrade a few things. This allows you to better enjoy the game and remain competitive against your opponents.

The one thing to be careful of, is the fact that upgrades have diminishing returns. Good kit helps, but there comes a point when your own ability is the deciding factor, no matter what gear you have. Best example is putters. You can spend $30 on a putter, but if you can't read the greens very well, it won't be of much use to you.

Edit:  I just read Lonnie's post. He is correct. It's time consuming, but if you have patience (and free time), you can eventually earn enough credits to upgrade.

    Actually, no, it's not foolish.

First, as someone has already noted, it's possible to earn credits so that one doesn't have to spend money. Second, upgrading equipment over starter clubs can have a tremendous effect. And third, for many people, it's a nice diversion. They get a lot of enjoyment from playing the game. If that were not true, no one would stick around. If they are spending money on it, clearly, they've decided that it's worth it.

In the year that I've been here, I've spent about $60 (IIRC). I don't regret spending any of that money. I really don't have any other hobbies. So for a hobby, $60 for a year is pretty cheap. For the past few months, however, I've earned a lot of free credits, which means I don't have to spend any money. But I do have to spend some time. Even so, it's been worth it.

Regardless, welcome to WGT and the forums.

So, don't be a fool, don't spend money. Simple, isn't it?

I 4 1 chose to invest some money in the fun I get here, more money if I get good fun, less money if the fun ceases.

Any recommendations of ways to get free credits.

There seem to be a lot of surveys and things, but past experience tells me some will end up asking you to buy stuff or give out info you shouldn't divulge (akin to writing a phone number on a bathroom stall).

I don't mind spending a few minutes filling out a survey. But don't want to end up on some spam distribution list.

I need a decent driver and good balls to remain competitive hitting off the pro tee on long par 4's. A good putter wouldn't hurt either

    TIA for any suggestions.

The surveys are a good way to earn credits. I haven't noticed any increase in the spam I receive since taking the surveys. And that's true even though I've had to provide my email address for a few surveys. But if you're concerned about increased spam, you can do a couple of things.

First, you could just skip those surveys. A lot of surveys don't ask for information that identifies you. Or second, you could create a "throwaway" email account on one of the free sites that are out there. I have one on excite that I use for the giveaways or offers that I know will spam me.

And I think I've rarely, if ever, have had any surveys ask me for my phone number. I know some of the giveaways or offers ask for that. In any case, if I did ever give out my phone number in any survey, it never had any negative effects. I've never received any phone calls that could even remotely be tied to any survey I've taken on here.

Now the giveaways or offers in the other sections are a whole different story! In my opinion, those giveaways and offers can get fairly sketchy. I get a lot of spam for that. But they all go to an email account that I only use for that. And for those, in the past, I used an old landline number that I no longer have. For the most part, however, I avoid those offers or giveaways. They seem more hassle than they're worth.

But the surveys are fine (IMO).

If you have an Iphone a good way to earn credits is to install the WGT Mobile app. The app is free and linked to your WGT account.  On the left bottom of the screen is earn free creits. tap that/ When the page loads there is earn credits by watching videos. The videos are from around 15 seconds up to about 30 seconds and you get 2 credits for each video watched. Not a lot per video but they add up. For some reason the earn credits by watching videos isn't available on the Android version of WGT mobile.

Videos work on Android just fine for me. I run a few while brushing my teeth. While getting supper ready. Etc. It adds up.

The OP clearly is just wanting to feel superior, for whatever reason. 3 bucks to support the developers seems reasonable to me. I grew up in a time where even crappie games cost $40. Plus, getting rid of that infernal Rock Bottom Golf ad is value enough ;)

If people want to spend 20, 40, 100 bucks, and it's worth it to them, more power to them. It's a choice, and they find it worthwhile.

    Very true indeed.

I've spent a couple of hundred Euros here over the years but when I divide it by the number of hours I've played then it works out to be very cheap entertainment indeed.

The free way is obviously to be admired but I honestly can't be bothered watching videos and doing surveys for a few credits when a couple of clicks will get me enough balls to last half a year.
