@ Paulton.. Thanks for the bloatware info, I've now got rid of a quite a bit.  Me being a computer numpty I've got a question, how would I know what processes I can disable, and which ones I need to keep running ? As I write this, all I have running is Max browser, AVG anti virus, and task manager, and there are 57 background processes running, does this sound excessive ?

I've just bought the exact same laptop! I looked at mine, I had about 60 processes running. I just looked through them and most seem needed. Did you check the start up tab, maybe some unwanted things starting up and running in the background?

After doing all the recommended actions, I finished by running this free program, it's a cleaner but it does quite a bit more than CCleaner.

Baidu pc faster  I only run this every few weeks but it's well worth a try.

I'm using maxthon cloud and have absolutely no problems with my meter.

    Good luck man.

Do not go there, especially if you don't know. Disabling the wrong process will cause you misery. You're better of going to the msconfig file. This is where you decide what you want to start up when you turn the computer on.

    Hey Ade,

this might be a long shot because i play on an Imac, but i was having trouble with my meter for weeks until i got rid of Adblock+ extension then like magic it was as smooth as Anthony Martials right foot.... haha couldnt resist m8 :)

i installed Light Adblock and have had no meter problems since...might not be the same for windows but might be worth a try...

    thx stevie2x

Just an additional note to Stevie's post above, AdBlock and Adblock Plus are two different programs by two different companies.

And with the right browser version neither one of them is needed. The version of Comodo Dragon that I use has an exention called Priv Dog which blocks most ads. Maxthon has one called ad hunter. I'm sure there are other browsers as well that have their own integrated ad blockers.

Adblock blocks every ad in CD for me.  :-)
