Just a confusing one for me to understand, i play off the master tees at the 15th on Bethpage and i was wondering why with simlair equipment that the Legends i play with were always 30yards closer than me after the drives but then i reliesed for some reason that the Legends actually tee off 20 yards closer than Master why is that???

That's right, just noticed it a couple days ago while playing with a legend. Take a look at the score card and it shows the difference in yards.

What confusing about it?   The legends get a break?

Well, just off the top of my head, show me 1 real golf hole which has the blue tees closer than the whites..:)

I think you'll find the reason may be because, when it's not set up for the US Open, it is probably a par 4 for the Pro's (back tees) and a par 5 for the members (forward tees).

There is a similar hole at The Belfry in the UK where the Ryder Cup used to be played.  The 10th hole white tees (back tees) is actually further forward than the yellow tees (for normal day-to-day play).  This is to encourage the pro's to try drive the green.

Show me a tour, that lets players compete for the same prize money, yet allows some to tee up closer on most holes!

Totally agree with you but its just a shame that probaly the hardest hole on the game has this with there being such a massive difference between hitting a 3ior4I in off master tees compared to hitting a 5ior6i in off Legend tees, Plus if u hit a 3I in to that green theres a good chance you wont stop on the green and getting up and down from back of the green is nearly impossible

#11 of St. Andrews, Master tees are 2 yards longer than Champion tees. The Champion tee is harder, as it is a harder angle. This is the case here. Watch the Legends get caught up in the 40-50% rough off the tee...
