ApexPC: Your score relative to par is what counts
Not at all! Nine hole Par of the courses in question is between 34 and 36, but regardless of that, the gross score counts: 33 = 66, 32 = 64.
ApexPC: At a 64.52 stroke average you have to have a 9 hole score of 1/2 that, 32, or less. And an 18 hole score of 64 or less.
Wrong again! A saturated average of 64.52 comprises scores above and below that number, perhaps 66s and higher, and 62s and lower. Any score below the highest score in the mix will drop the average, so I think that 33s (= 66, and probably 34s = 68) will work on the average.
ApexPC: Of course, Par 3 and Par 5 courses don't count towards your stroke average because they have abnormal par.
Lucky to say that this part is correct!
Concerning the OP's claim, me thinks that it should be wrong, too, because I'm pretty sure that any of the last scores shown, 33, 32, 32, 33 on Pebble Beach, must have moved the average.
I would need a precise statement of
- starting average and
- course, score, average after playing for each round
for at least 10 consecutive scores.
