Holes 2 to 7 and 12 to 17 at St Andrew's all play almost in an exact straight line (in opposite directions obviously)

Being a links course there is always a prevailing wind, therefore for those holes should always have wind going in the same direction.

It's so frustrating at times to play these holes with a completely different wind direction for each hole

I agree with your point, it happens all over WGT, not just St Andrews.

Your account is 6 years old . L61 Tour Pro

    290 Ranked Rounds

    4 Rounds of M/P

    No A/S

Still playing with starter gear .

My point is what difference does it matter as to wind direction because you dont even play .You complain about the games details when the most important details are that you dont play .If you played enough then you would know that all you have to do is play according to the wind and not worry about its direction .

So until you put your time in you really dont have a legitimate leg to stand on as far as game play and course set up .

Wind direction is random in this game.

    Howzit

A few years ago, I used to play Microsnot Flight Simulator. Even belonged to a virtual airline :-)

Point being, there was this addon you could download which would allow you to fly in prevailing weather conditions.

    I'm talking 8 to 10 years ago.

Why can't WGT do the same thing? Allow an API to interact with the game and provide real weather, instead of this random wind?

Ok, it appears rain can't be simulated here but surely the winds can be more accurately portrayed?

    Cheers,

    Peter

Not only that, but on that course, every hole is different. Some holes are longer and some are shorter. And they even put the bunkers in different places. Don't even get me started about the greens! In fact, looking at some of the other courses, it seems like it's a trend.

    Very frustrating.

Really?! I sure would like to see a screen capture evidence of that!

    I'll wait.

I think you're missing my (sarcastic) point. And the point is that all holes are different. Each hole is not identical. Some holes have fairway bunkers, others do not. Some have bunkers that are in play near the pin, others don't. Each hole is different with bunkers having different placement from hole-to-hole. I'm not saying they change the bunker placement on a particular hole from when one plays it to the next time it's played.

Similarly, that the wind is inconsistent is really not that big of a deal. Indeed, I don't even think about what the wind was like on the previous hole as I play the next hole. The wind is just another variable to consider, along with bunkers and the shape and contour of the greens, which (by definition) are also different from the previous hole.

How about that! Your waiting is already over. And I even posted a warning sign on my other message for other passerbys. :-)

There are other golf sims with this feature; depending how the course is laid out on the overhead, there is a global wind direction (with the normal randomizing) in accord to how you designed the links or how the course has been recreated.

Oh, I'm sorry, have I posted on the wrong forum? I thought this was product suggestions, not a critique on my playing frequency or the equipment I'm using.

I have a life in the real world, with work, children and a grandchild on the way, other interests and hobbies (one of them being a golfer in the real world) and that's why I don't devote every single moment to this game like you seem to have.

If you had taken a moment to read my post as a product suggestion, instead of getting all defensive, thinking I was slagging the game off, you'd have realised that I'm not bothered about the wind direction, I do play with it as according to the way it blows but was suggesting that since I play in the real world and know how wind reacts, it would be good to have it being consistent through each hole, if it's blowing to the east at the beginning of the round, it should blow mostly to the east for all of the round.

My choice of equipment and frequency of me playing has nothing to do with whether or not I can have an opinion or a suggestion, so I suggest you remove your head from your *** and stop seeing offence where there is none
