I hate making shots in the 190+ yard range. I really don't have no idea where the ball is going to end up other than a 20 yard radius. Is there one in my level range that is a must have? Something that can drop the ball more iron like? thanks.

Shots in that range should be made with your 3 or 4 iron, Choking a 3 wood would not give the results you want. You really need a better 3 wood though, the one you have is awful.

At your level (next level for irons) you can buy these -

Woods don't have much spin. So even the best Club/Ball combinations will almost always roll a bit. If you have a smooth landing zone and calculate hight and wind effects correctly you can still get the lenght right.

When using Irons with Spin 4.5 combined with high spin balls the ball often stays where it is touching the ground first. But you have to play a lot for about 2 years to reach the level needed to buy the good ones.

The exception where you can get high spin and high precision early are the Level 45 Max Precision Irons. They have a very fast meter so rent them before you buy them. And you porbably should avoid them if you play with balls with meter speed 0. If you have patience you can wait for the next free rental weekend. WGT offers them a few times a year and you still get the 10% discount for buying rented equipment.

Thanks Paul! I had my eye on those irons for my next purchase but was not sure if I should do a better 3 wood first. I agree with choking the 3 wood it gives me pretty shakey results. My longest iron is 187 and I would rather be short ten yards than take a chance of being who knows where with the 3 wood.

Andreas thanks! I did try those irons and the meter rate was a bit too fast for my liking other than that I probably would have got them. I really have not experimented with balls. I figure I want to get good enough with my clubs before I put other variables in the equation.

Max precision irons can only really be paired with Max balls. Too quick otherwise. You'd also probably need to want to have your other clubs at meters 3 or 3.5 to avoid timing issues.

I gave you bad advice earlier, you should wait until level 59 and get the Ping G-25 high trajectory irons.

For those shots around 190 yds, that's the distance of a WGT hybrid. It would mean taking your 3w or one of your wedges out just now though, just until you get new irons.

In WGT a hybrid is only truly useful if you need long shots out of the rough. This happerns rarely enough that most people are much better of with using their Iron 3 instead out of the rough and take 3 wedges with them. If WGT would allow a more realistic golf bag many people would leave their Iron 3 at home and take a hybrid instead on same courses.

This is one of the few cases where WGT missed a money making oportunity with their game design.

I agree with that Andreas but the OP has a big gap between his 3i and 3w so I suggested a hybrid as a short term measure. He could take out his 90 yd wedge as he is hitting from tour pro tees and could probably get on all right without it just now.
