This has to be a cheat tool surely ??

    http://labs.revota.com/swingmate/

It calculates shot distance for you

What's the difference between that and a calculator? It's just a fancy version of something Sluny brought to the game years ago-WGT Caddie.

In fact, in the words of the maker on the site.........

    "Is it Legal?

We believe so. It doesn’t modify or change how WGT apps run. It doesn't interfere any files, transmission, nor providing auto clicker. Simply put, digital ruler and calculator, combined."

Sluny's VGG Caddy doesn't tell you how hard to hit the ball.......you use a calculator at home based on what you believe is correct....completely different to the swingmate

The "Is it legal" post refers to VGG Caddy.....not swingmate

Wrong. That quote came from the swingmate site. Scroll down the page. This is just a fancy calculator.

It's shot and putter pal with a calculator, it's not a cheat.

It's also very basic and rather unnecessary, as the game has moved on since then.

Certainly not worth wetting your knickers over.

I guess we'll agree to disagree......anything that tells the player how hard to hit the shot rather than the player working it out for themselves will always be a cheat in my book.

    Have fun out there :)

I have my own spreadsheet of data. The only thing I use a calculator for is my putt distance based on the multipliers of the green speeds. Non of these calculators even VGG and Kat's work unless you do some other calculation along side them because the Balls and Clubs you use don't match up.

VGG is just a fancy/better way to measure the amount of power for a shot and you must of missed the page on Kats program, like the one you manually put in the specs of the equipment your using in order for it to work properly...

When putting it does not matter what putter or ball you use. All need the same power for achieving the correct length. The only variable parts are green speed and wind. You need to modify your puts if you have heavy wind.

It's nothing more than a calculator.  Can I do basic fractions, division, multiplication, etc?  Sure.  I can get a pencil, paper, and write it out and get it done.  I'd much rather grab a standard calculator and punch in the numbers.  Much faster.

    Same goes for wind, elevation, using Trig, Sine, Cosine.   10 wind at 30 degre * .5 (sin) = 5 drift and then 10 wind at .86 (cos) head/tail for 8.6.  If a tail wind at 145Y then 8.6 *.55 (i use 65% head and 37% tail) = 4.75y off.  So now we got what, 140Y aimed say 5y right?  So I hit my 8i 146 @ 100% w/ full b/s.  So 140 / 146 = 96% power.

The calculator simply saves you time and effort.  Now you can enjoy the game much more, yes?
