Sincere condolences. 53 was really the prime of his life.

I try not to ask to much from you folks at HQ ,  But this time I will say " Please "

I concur, WGT should be able to do something as it would be a shame for a CC like this to fold -  it would be apt for the CC to continue his legacy.

And condolences to his family and friends....53 is way to young.

I would like to add my sincere condolences to Brian's family and the members of Senior Citizens CC.

While it is not something most people want to think about, CEverett12's good advice is about the only choice for club owners at this time.  I would like to urge WGT to implement Bob's idea of a listed beneficiary to be used in these types of emergencies.  In times like this it would be good to know that the guys at the top have your back.

    Steve

sad news indeed. And to the topic, why can' WGT let a club director take the reins if the owner passes or is otherwise incapacitated.

And on that subject, why are we owners given that title anyway? In real CCs, the title would be president, and there would be a vice president in the wings to take over if necessary.

My grandfather literally saved our hometown (Astoria, Oregon) CC during the Depression, but if someone had wanted to call him owner, even after his dollars rescued the club, he probably would have had him taken out and shot.

This is the second time a similar situation occurred at this CC. In the previous case after a period of upheaval in the CC when a large number left the Club, the owner communicated with a friend in the Club and handed over the membership.

But, before this happened members were on here asking for help and, I believe were in touch with WGT wanting them to intervene and transfer ownership.

Unfortunately the answer was the same...... they won't or can't do anything ! Seems that is not the answer really. This is a CC which has lost it's owner through tragic circumstances, surely they can transfer ownership to  a Director, can't be difficult surely.

I sincerely hope that Senior Citizens can be found a solution from this dilemma. I was a member of this Club for a long time and have many fond memories of my time there.

But I think it a sensible idea to make some arrangements when you are an owner to cover for this, as it is a shame for this situation to occur.

Maybe go to the home page and make a list of all the members, start a new club, similar name...maybe something in memory of Brian, and invite your club members to join

I was also a member of SCCC for quite a long time and admit that I left the club after waiting a couple of months the first time this happened. Played Brian a few times and enjoyed the golf we had. Very sad to hear of his passing.

For goodness sake WGT, please don't keep telling us there's nothing you can do - OF COURSE THERE IS! Just get your heads out of the sand and do it. The club has had a series of excellent owners - it shouldn't be allowed to turn to dust.

The idea of having a vice-president with executive powers is very persuasive - maybe you should take that on board before giving us any more useless gizmos.

    Bill

There is no system in place to handle this problem ,  So WGT probably needs some kind of proof , Like the obituary report or something like that . Because there are some unsavory folks out there that would get mad at the owner of a club and tell WGT that he passed away . That's understandable ,  There should be some kind of safety net to handle this problem , This is not the first time nor will it be the last .   Until WGT does something about it , Its up to us to figure it out and handle it .  Leave info with a friend or family member ,  I have someone in our club that has the necessary information .  In any case , Make arrangements yourself at this time , Perhaps there will be a fix in the future , Don't count on it ......
