You punch a 64W from green side rough?

Yes , and full-shot - all the way down to 5 yards.  4 yards if you really want.

Okay! Thanks for the advice. I'll go in to practice mode. I can add to my notes for punches how much more I need to hit it given the different depths of the rough.

    11BC2:

First goal should be get a precise mapping with full bs/ and flat.  By precise I mean have an exact power % you'll hit for a 40y shot.  For a 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, all the way down to 15y or something (don't skip a single yardage).  And when possible use punches (they are king).  Save full shots for sand and 40/50 rough or uphill shots.  Flops should be used minimally due to lack of precise aim and less hole outs.  They are also best for 40/50 and or some delicate dh shots.

Finally, find a good mentor in your country club to help you out.  Aim for someone who has at least 65% plus sand save and scrambling saves.   No point taking advice from someone who lacks the necessary skill to teach.

Did you see how I had my clubs mapped? I am open to suggestions. Thanks Sean!

Whether 11BC2 comes back to this thread or not - I considered his last comment above to be a bit of a cheap snipe.

This from the cheap snipe master himself!

    Waaaaay too funny

    @ Solar

I'm extremely confused how this is a cheap snipe.  If someone is trying to learn they need to have a CC member/mentor who has proper knowledge and understanding (good stats) to learn from.  They won't learn the right way if they listen to anyone and everyone (not pinpointing anyone, it's a generalization) who are stuck with stats in a mediocre range.

    @ Getsummadis

I'll finish up the L8 Mapping for Punch, Full, Pitch, and flop in a day or two and send it to ya.  And like we talked about in our games last night, it goes all the way down to 5y.

    cheers.  sean

    Lutjanid:

This is how my 64 behaves. Pretty consistent at these marks with a ball 2.5 spin or above.  To make it go 20 yards it's full spin and halfway on meter. To make is go 30 yards it's full spin to where 36 yards should be. To make it go 36 take it to where 42yds should be but half spin at most.

To much spin at higher yardages with wedges is a killer. 40 yards is on the thick line that indicates 3/4 power on shot pal, no spin needed. 48 yards is about where 50 would be on meter. Once you get to 54 on meter it plays pretty much as stated.

So in short the yardages don't match up with the scale but are very consistent at these marks. Learn the pitch full spin shot with the 64, just have to hit it a couple of yards harder. It stops on a dime. The same shot with the 60 is also pretty good but has a little more roll out. Hope this helps mate.

                                                                                             Jacko.

This is exactly what I am finding so far. Thanks Jacko

Can I ask you when these distances come up but you're in the rough or sand for example you say to make it go 20yds would be FBS 50% of meter. Would you take into account the depth of the rough for the 20yds or with the half meter 30yds then account for the rough?

Glad to help mate. For 20/25% rough I add a couple of yards. For 30/40 about 4. I say about because it's not an exact science. There are a few other factors as well. These being green contours, slope, speed etc. Some greens take a harder bounce and some are like pillows. It's a case of playing and tweaking a bit here and there.

20/25 is not to different apon landing, when you get into 30/40 and worse you may get a little run out. 50 and above the ball will land and release quite a bit. The pitch with full backspin is a good place to start for shots under 25 yards. it's very reliable and consistent. Once you get the hang of it you can be deadly from around the greens. If you like mate I would be happy to go for a hit anytime and lend a hand. Just let me know.

                                                                              cheers,    Jacko.
