Often I will club up to counter wind and elevation. Say the club will shoot 160yds. -sometimes the wind is only 3mph and the elevation 4ft.. My shot distance will only be 120yds. at full power. (It doesn't seem to matter what course I am on.)  I just recently started playing so I am not sure if this is normal? Are there others factors that reduce distance? Thanks for any help!

It really depends on the club. Different clubs possess different attributes. The average distance on a club's maximum distance rating is calculated by forward spin at maximum, no wind or elevation, and on tournament speed greens.

There are a lot of variables that determine the outcome of any shot. That's where your skills make the difference. The attributes of the Drive distance and Green speeds increase on each course as you advance each tier, keeping it challenging and requires better equipment to improve your game.

Unless your wind is massive, no club rated at 160 should fly 120 with full hit. If this happens to you, please right click and submit detailed bug report. You can check a sticky thread in bug forum on details how to submit a proper bug report

Your ball lie will make a big difference .... fairway, 1st cut rough, 2nd cut rough, sand, etc. Also how deep is your ball, 15%,30%, 60%.

You can see your ball lie in the right bottom corner of your screen when playing.

Your OP doesn't indicate whether or not you hit the ding (white line) consistently.  That alone can make a big difference with distance...a bad lie combined with a miss hit and even a Legend, with better clubs, would be lucky to hit a 160 club 120.

By all means submit a bug report if you think there is a problem...but keep in mind that you've only been here a short time and it takes a lot of practice to figure out this crazy game.  Suggest you play practice games and try different things to see if that helps.  There is also a lot of help available (See over there------->) and in the forums.

    Hang in there...you'll be fine.

The white ding thing.....I have found if you miss it by a hair, it can influence a shot in a huge way, yet the next time miss it by a foot and it doesn't affect much at all. I suppose it may be the lie but since I'm new, Im learning and in a small way, it's a big curve.

I think the miss-hits are a problem! However, today I was playing on St.Andrews and the meter went a little crazy causing me to lose the hole to a double bogey. It's just a video game, so it is not a big problem- but then why do I get so mad-LOL!!!

The same reason we all get mad. it's human nature. Usually if your meter goes a little crazy as you say you can let it pass a couple of times and it will settle down and be fairly smooth.

Well, I just got the Birdies award on St.Andrews so I'm feeling a lot better! Watching the Masters today helped. Boy are they great!
