    Hi,

I've spent the vast majority of my money of a new putter and only have 350 credits left and desperate for a new driver so I can throw the basic one in the bin. Any suggestions please on what I should get or save up a little more for a slighty better one?

    Thanks

    Tom

First, a caveat: Once you upgrade your equipment you will most certainly accelerate your rise in tiers - Master will bring longer tracks and the need for more of better equipment. If you accept to invest in your pastime, enjoy!

    Concerning your question:

Check out for a quality 3WD - R11 comes to mind. This will have double use, on the tee and on long FWs, and it costs 35% of a driver.

Next thing (or first, if you ask me) to improve are the wedges. Two short ATV (or Cleves, for credits' sake) will help your short game tremendously.

And, usually I advise to only buy putters above 500 cr - too late for you.

    Have fun!

Tom, my advice is to wait!

The higher the level you are the better equipment and upgrades now will only accelerate your tier progression, and you will be left with clubs not suitable for master tier.

Add to that you will have time to accrue credits,

Personally wedges will be your best investment to start with and in the 40's there are some decent choices. Wait till the G25's are available (58/59) and get the full set.

And then there is a ball....even the cheaper wgt will be better than the free"rock".

Of course, if budget s no issue......spend away....but I am guessing that is not the case.

In the interim, learn and experiment the different shot types and have fun.

I'd also wait a while.  The advice from alosso (small a this time, sorry, it's a habit to capitalise what is a name, even only a user one) about getting a good 3 wood is solid, no reason to have 2 clubs when 1 will do the job of both quite well.  Have a look at the R15, only a few levels to go until you can get that.  It will work well as a driver and is a very good 3 wood in it's won right.

If you can hang in 12 levels for a dedicated driver then I'd suggest looking at the R1 at L48.  That thing will keep you happy until you reach L100 or so, basically you'll only ever have to buy one other driver as long as you play.   So, although it's expensive you will probably save credits long term by not buying 4 or 5 drivers as you level up.

Thanks for all the replies that's very helpful. I have only considered upgrading the driver to get more distance. Having read this I think I might upgrade the wedges instead?

So would the wiser option be stick with basic driver, and upgrade to better wedges when they become available?

The second driver on the list- the Pro+ 9.5 for 250 credits will get you 245 yards. This sounds like what you are looking for. The L48 driver is a must as soon as you have it unlocked- a great club! 2500 credits though.

A decent set of wedges is vital if you want to play as well as you can.  Most of us drop the hybrid and carry 3 of them, usually the shortest you can get and 2 matching ones that fill the gap between that and the PW in the iron set.  In most cases this is around 120 yards so something like 50, 75 and 100 fits the bill nicely.

Around level there are several ATV wedges that will make a big difference to your game without costing the earth.  There's a 64 degree one that will hit a full shot 50 yards but the others are a bit strange distance wise, the 60° hits 77 yards and there's a 54° that hits 98.

That shopping list is starting to get quite long.  And expensive : (

If you get wedges be sure to learn more than the full shot with them, the punch is brilliant, like having 6 wedges in your bag instead of 3.  Opinions vary as to whether to use pitch or flop, personally I play the pitch with my 64° and anything longer than that will reach, 14 yards, I punch.

There is no right or wrong way to do it, it's down to personal preference.

    Good luck.

Well. I will share my experience on WGT. I've been here since 2009, and since then, I decided to really enjoy the game,  trying to make it as realistic as I could. I tried to earn everything the hard way. I upgraded my driver when I was in Master tier. And it's the first club I got. The rest still was Starters equipment. After that, I bought a pretty decent set of Ping Irons. Not the best ones, and pretty cheap ones, but helped the ball fly a little higher, which helped me get more spin and accuracy in my shots. Making in through from lower tiers to the higher ones, requires a huge change in the game. The shots you take change considerably. Just be careful when you upgrade some clubs really fast, because when you get to a more difficult tier, you really suffer it if not ready. Good luck mate, and I hope my experience guides you a little bit. Sorry for my english. I hope you understand what I mean!

If you have lot's of $$ to burn buy the best balls, best equipment, and lot's of ranked rounds to tier up and unlock better items (as you'll need them for longer tee's).

When on a budget it's best to completely avoid ranked rounds.  It will serve you no purpose reaching TM or Legend if you have mediocre clubs and balls.  Bottom line, it cost $$ to shoot good scores at top levels.  I'd suggest  not missing any daily XP bonuses and within 60 days you should be close to level 59.

A tour pro - Master with Level 59 High trajectory Ping Irons @2395cr, Level 50 Max Spin High Trajectory Wedges @ 895cr each (56, 60, 64), Level 48 Taylor Made Drive @ 2495cr, and WGT Tour S-balls (2.0 spin, 1.0 distance at .43 cents a sleeve) can absolutely destroy the course.

To sum up, cash cows should go all out and spend dat money!!  Lot's of ranked rounds!  Tier up and go nuts.  People on a budget or lack of surveys and videos should avoid ranked rounds at all cost (seriously, don't do it) and wait until you can get at least the above set-up before pushing up the tiers (135cr a day for 60 days buys you the above).

I watch videos to get from 500-1000 credits a day. Pretty easy to do by pushing the button on your free time. I buy credits to $20 a month. The surveys are a joke- don't waste your time on them.
