I would like to call on the membership again for some input from greenside rough. I would appreciate any parameter guidelines as to the ajustments required in chipping force from different amounts of rough  i.e 30-40 %- 40-50% etc. Also is it possible to catch a flyer type of lie as at times it seems like the ball absolutely jumps out of the rough.

Thank You again as I always find the answers interesting and informative.

    Regards.

    Wayne.

i have found even if i hit the ball with the same power for the same distance /lie from previous hole it goes totally diff distances....i have read many post stating x-y=z but its all rubbish tbh....the game just seems to flip a coin and u end up where its wants u to be...

Chipping from rough is a recipe for disaster. Practice pitching from greenside rough and you will soon find the correct parameters. You might also want to try pitching from greenside bunkers if the lip is not too high.

The only greenside rough I will chip out of is 25/30 or 20/25 and even then only  8 yards or less. Heaviet rough or longer shots and it's a pitch or a punch.

I laughed when a member mentioned a random number generator on questions like yours.  I'm believing that theory more and more with each round I play.  There is no consistency with shot selections.  That part of the game has always frustrated me.

    Try flopping.

for instance a 10yd flop from 20/30% lie, i use my 20yd wedge at 70% power. For 40% lie, 75% power.  of course uphill/downhill greens, green speed will factor in.  The good thing is that the flop wont roll as far or as unpredictably as a chip.

Go to practice mode and use those numbers as a start to come up with numbers for your wedge/ball combo.

    +1

Learning the parameter of pitching was a bit of a game changer for me. Even from the fringe or just off the green in the fairway, I always use a pitch over the chip. From my experience, the pitch is a much more consistent shot.

If you really believe that, you will never improve your game.

There is absolute consistency, once you know your shots but you have to learn your wedges capabilities.

    You're doing it wrong.

Imagine that the default shot selections are constistently wrong (by default). Make your own selections - hopefully correct with consistency!

Forget about consistency if you're using starter balls.
