I'm assuming there are others (like me) playing as much as possible to get to lvl 80 & 81 to purchase that previous level 85 equipment 5 levels sooner.

    How about:

Make a minimum purchase of $20 and you get boosted up to the next level.  If someone wanted to go from 75 to 80, they'd spend $100, or perhaps better only allow it to be used once or twice.  That way the people who level'd up themselves won't complain -- although those level up bars exist so really there's nothing to complain about.  Run it for 2 days or something.

Once there, they'll buy all the Nike clubs available at that level -- otherwise they wouldn't have made the initial purchase of $20 to get boosted.

So, WGT gets numerous $20 amounts as players boost themselves.  Then, they get all the profits from the club purchases as well.

It's win win for WGT, as they should receive an increase in purchases that wouldn't have normally occurred b/c players wouldn't have gotten to 80 without the promotion.

It's also win win for the players who are eyeing those Nike clubs and are willing to pay for them, but wouldn't have level'd up in time.

    2 win win's equals good times.  :)

    yeah that's a fantastic idea.

WGT look at all the threads on this idea and realize you can make a boatload of cash by dropping them another 5 levels. Then realize if the new clubs have slightly better stats you can do it again then.

You guys give them too much credit as savvy business minds. They prosper as a result of no viable competition...that's it.

I busted a$$ the old fashioned way and pounded my way to level 97 and bought the Nikes, shortly before they were dropped to level 92. Now they are being asked to drop them to level 87. Why would they give up well over a million XP's of ball hits to get you to better equipment faster? They would lose money. There is a reason that they rarely drop equipment levels, other than the obvious one in the case of Nike. Players will eventually get to their desired level anyway and burn a heckuva lot of golf balls doing so.

Not sure about the math...but your point does have some merit. Actually, both views have merit. Nike equipment is expensive. If all these players were using Nike balls..I could defo see a case for keeping the levels where they are. But many people use cheapo balls...so maybe more profitable to have the players buy the clubs?

Based on past decisions (or lack of) by wgt, I stand by my assertion. I very much doubt a cost benefit analysis is done...and certainly not tailored to the customer's wishes...many of which would be inexpensive to implement; reap them good will, and potential profit, as well.

I disagree because I think for that argument to hold merit, one has to believe that once someone gets the top level clubs they want, they will stop using the expensive balls. I think most people are going to play the top balls, if they do, regardless of clubs.

You posted the same thing twice...you must really disagree...lol

The larger point is how customer satisfaction fits into the WGT profit driven "business model".  Lack of competition means not much thought has to go into either.

People often play many rounds and as fast as they can to get to the level they need for upgrades. On your own in tournament rounds scores best.  Take away the need to "pound your way to level 97 (92)" players could play less, in a more relaxed way,  and therefore use less balls.

It also occurs that maybe the idea of dropping it to 92 was that many of the people it'd affect would, for example, already have spent on the L90 TM's and dropping it further could see folk miss out this rung in the buying ladder.

This panic over Nike leaving and the void it's going to leave is a bit funny.  Expecting WGT to make all Nike gear available at level 5 or whatever is even funnier.

There will be new gear, same specs and same price.  The pro shop is not going to be empty, you can be sure of that.
