I have no idea what you people are talking about. I rarely have lip outs!

Of course, it's probably due to the fact that the ball is no where near the hole. But, hey! Don't have a problem with lip outs. ;-)

im sure other players have noticed more lip outs on their putts too. I don't mind it, alot of  players shooting really low scores lately lol.

. . . Is the Game less forgiving the higher up go you . . .

    Yes.

That's an essential part of WGT's patented Virtual Equipment Model (VEM).

As you move up in the tiers the less room for error VEM accords you. That includes if you hit early or late on the meter. However, many of the higher level players use early/late hits on the meter to serve the same function as moving the aiming point of a shot.

In fact, for flop shots you want to use the lines before/after the Ding! Excellent line on the meter if you want your shot to go towards the pointer on the aiming box.

Thanks for all your great comments on my original post about putts lipping out.. Probably most of them I was hitting the ball to hard to take the break out on close putts and I didn't line up the putt correctly. Which helped caused it to happen

    thanks again

Well, I've got my favourite already. It wasn't a miss and there is a clear lack of shiny headwear. (of any description)

Striking similarities to this, also from this morning. Sorry about the lack of a replay, taking these screenshots I'd worked up such a froth that I thumped the table causing the ashtray to somersault and empty itself all over the keyboard.

     YES! It's in

    WTF!! how'd I manage that??

For want of any better choices,

    a.  Robbed by Wgt

    b.  I clearly missed it

    c. Anything involving shiny headgear, whatever the material.

It was shortly afterwards that I noticed this for the first time, increasing my fury, and amount of froth generated, tenfold .

The round at St. Andrews was halted and play suspended for the morning.

    Still fuming, Cheers anyway

    Rich.

LOL. Welcome to the +/- 1/2" tolerance of the hole locations. This has been the subject of quite a few rants and is usually explained by blowing that view up from another camera.  ;-)

    Hi Jim

I have had a few of those before, mainly on courses where the camera angles are limited, Kiawah Is. for example. This was at Oakmont though, where I have to check from every angle. I've missed too many short putts there. My initial reaction was to not believe it, building up to a light to medium rage (it wasn't the first one and just the latest in a grisly series yesterday of lip outs, misreads and ping pong putts) so I decided to check from every angle first, listening for any hit on the pin.

Nothing. From every angle the same trail directly over the hole, the same effortless slicing through the pin and the same f******g ball appearing gleefully out the other side.

Thank God , in the nick of time I heard what I like to tell others, sheet happens It's ONLY A BLOODY GAME! I can't explain it, certainly can't change it, so best forget about it and move on. A decent round at St Andrews should do the trick, then I spotted something out of the corner of my eye that I'd never noticed before. No, no it can't be....

Not the best of days yesterday, hopefully the mower will start tonight       : )

    Cheers!

    Rich.

You can't hit the pin with a putt, as far as the game is concerned it's not in the hole. It's there on the screen as a visual aid only.

Replays always show the pin, even if you removed it for the shot itself.
