  A combination of factors, besides hitting the flag stick:

  1. Hit the flag stick low, with pace.
  2. Shooting into the wind
  3. Back spin on the ball
  4. Pitch shot type
  5. Hole located close to steep green fall off.

  If you think about it Paul, it's a much more efficient way to play the game.  None of that hit the ball, then walk.  Repeat.  Kind of like Baseball.
