    msulaman:
Is this a case where you just have to know this particular putt from experience to realize that it's going to break?

Yes. Particularly at SA and Kiawah. These were the first efforts by WGT at mapping greens and they didn't get it exactly right at the start. There are so many places on both those courses where the advice has always been memorize it. Quite frustrating when you're staring at no dot movement and then watch it turn.  :-(

Was your putt  line 100% smack in the middle of the grid squares/ columns ? If not 100% then any elevation is drawn into the dot speed and can give misleading impressions. Straight putts can appear to have moving dots. And moving dots can mean a straight putt. And it becomes more relevant  the more elevation there is in the putt. Even 2 inches down can give us apparently misleading info. This is my experience.

    +1

as fmagnets pointed out in a thread*

    fmagnets:

This video might help explain it better.

Downhill putts always break more, if there is any break, than flat putts because of less pace on the ball, and uphill putts break less because there is more pace on the ball.

For what it's worth, I often look at the line of a putt using the Chip, Pitch, Flop green display because the column of that display is usually centered on the hole.

Though we can, I don't unlock the putting grid.

The M1 and M2 have a defect which pushes the ball abruptly to the right immediately upon impact  (maybe 1 in 15 putts).  I've mentioned this in some of my previous youtube videos.

I was not aware of this BC. Thanks for the information. Perhaps I can return the club to the pro shop for 'straightening' so it behaves properly all the time.

I am aware of this issue (particularly on Kiawah greens) but I don't recall the grid location relative to the putting line. Also the problem usually manifests as observing moving dots which are due to grid angle and not elevation change.

St Andrews #16 (back pin) 8.2 ft putt 2 in down, vf green, almost no perceptable dot movement in chip or putt view. Ball is short of pin to the left. I hit the putt 6.5 ft & ding it but the putt misses the hole to the right without even touching the lip.

This will always happen. No matter what good avice people give you in this thread, they're missing a simple fact. A putt from where you say you were has never been and will never be straight. It needs to be clicked 3-4 milimetres early for us who putt off ding. I have no idea where the ding putters need to aim, but this putt is definitely not straight.

Considering the source, I'd take that information with a pinch of salt -
