Effect of wind on the ball

  I know the wind affects full and punch shots, but does it also affect flop, pitch and chip shots and putting?  I suspect it does the flop, particularly the longer flops, but not sure about the others.  I'm finding that with putting in particular the ball either doesn't traval as far or a little further than it's meant to, and this seems to be consistent with the wind direction.

  I am talking particularly on St Andrews in high winds.

  In short it affects them all. If you watch closely enough, you can see the small change in direction between impact and first bounce in pitches and flops. Distance traveled by putts seems to be affected by the wind too. Chips? Can't say I've noticed anything.

  Wind definitely can have a detectable effect on putting.

  I read the thread.  The last post was a year ago, so (considering what was said in the first couple of replies in that thread), are the later posts still true?

  I don't putt well enough to be able to make a well informed comment, but wind definitely affects flop shots and to a lesser degree the pitch shots.

   

  And speaking of wind (after playing SA in the high winds earlier) anyone notice it seem the wind is affecting the ball a lot more in flight?

   

  Good example I can give (and got all three conditions the same today in the unlimited, singe am MR free tourneys) is #8 on SA.  With a 30 and 31 MPH right to left, just about dead right to left wind, I usually play my shot just to the left of the bunker that's off to the right.

   

  First time the ball (on a ding) lands 25 foot left of the flag, next two shots I play the line to the right side of the bunker, and even though I cam up a bit short, both shot were dead in line with the stick.

  I played Kiawah #8 the other day with only 3mph L-R wind.  I aimed slightly further left than I would normally for that wind to allow for the roll on the green.  I ding'd the shot and finished in the rough right of the green!  No way was that 3mph.
