alcaucin: Many members in this Forum have some great, hard earned advice to pass along..so wring them dry for it......
Thank you for the opening Andy........My first wring.
The area I really need help on right now is putting. My GIR is way too low (33%). And even if I get on the green, getting close enough to the hole so that my putt isn't always 30+ is a challenge for me. Or I just play-ring-around-the-flagpole (although not as often).
Squeeze away... ;-)
Putting methods are many but I use these calcs..
Standard greens.. + or - the elevation and hit it that yardage + 1ft extra power on a flat green
Fast greens is the above but no extra power
V fast greens is + or - the elevation then divide by 1.1
Tourney 11 stimp is ^^^ & divide by 1.2
Tourney 12 stimp..divide by 1.3
Champs 13 is divide by 1.4
You can see the elevation of a putt in inches or feet in the blue box when putting, it'll have an arrow up or down.
eg: 17ft putt with 2 inches up on v fast greens would be 17 + 2 divided by 1.1 = 17.27, so I'd hit that @ just under 19ft power...
Now all of the above will get you within a couple of feet but....
..uphill putts may need a little more on certain courses/ holes and downhill putts on the faster greens will need a little less....that's where the damn practice bit comes in. ;-))
The clubs you have do not really lend themselves to great scoring but good learning tools...till better wedges / irons further down the line.
kayzeelady: P.S. Since I'm new to WGT, what is the etiquette for continuing on a discussion that is no longer related to the original topic? Should I send you a friend invite?
You'll find most threads here, go off topic in the end..... so, NW's ;-)))
Friend request sent K..
