Probably a dumb question - but how can some players use clubs above their lvl (screenshot available)

This is probably a stupid question...

Sometimes I like to look through some ready go tournament results to see what other players were using, and to see just how much of a disadvantage I was at with my current gear.

As usual I see guys beating me that are 10 levels higher, with better clubs, who are also hitting off closer tees. But I digress.

I recently saw a level 77 player who had the level 80+ cleveland wedge equipped.

    I did indeed screenshot it.

I must be missing something really obvious and everyone reading this is facepalming right now, but meh.

My question is how does the level 77 equip a 80+ wedge?

A screenshot can be provided, I'm not sure if it appropriate just yet.

For this to happen, the company and the game must allow it. Thus, there's nothing dubious in it from the player's side.

There has been a WGT "bundeling" promo which made it possible.

As for your question...... reasonable one as I cannot recall these being offered at lower levels. To my knowledge you could not gift clubs that were at a higher level, let alone buy them.

I will also say this - and up to you as to what you do, but personally looking at your scores you have little chance in the RG's, It looks like you have taken time away from the game...so re-hone your skills first...then take them on. Your clubs are OK and I know from past experience you can do OK with the G25's (old G20's).

Personally Johnny, and if you've got the dosh, I think all your clubs are ready and worth an upgrade. The two woods irons for Vapors. The three wedges to the next Clevelands up and the putter for a L59 Sabretooth. After you have bedded in together I would expect a good 3-shot improvement, maybe more.

As for the lower level thing, I'd let it go and worry about the Blackcaps beating the Aussies in the ODI instead!

Alan, Andy: I didn't see it myself, but it happened within the last six months.

A mod replied to a former Q, explaining it.

The player in question could have gotten the clubs before WGT changed club sales from tier to levels. When they did this most of us if not all of us had clubs well above level 20 which is the level we were given at the time of the change. But that was almost 7 years ago and to only go from level 20 to level 77 in that amount of time isn't really feasible.
