WGT: thank you very much for taking Nike lvl 95 driver off the game and not replacing it for a different club with same level.

Exactly what I thought. Now I have to wait until lvl 98 to get a worth while driver?

Leaving that large of a gap, lvl 91 to lvl 96, for drivers is ridiculous.

Can't wait to see how badly they screw up ball replacement when the Nike balls are pulled.

    Miantiao:

Nike would have pulled out because they were less than satisfied with the 'deal' between TopGolf and Nike. Nike was the premier club brand so it would be juicy to know the reason they left.

Nike didn't pull out of any deal with WGT, they pulled out of the golf market completely.  Since the clubs are no longer available in real life they were also removed here.

By the way, has anyone actually bought the new top Callaway irons?

    Serious GAS here  : (

First, it's really not true that you have to wait until then to get a worthwhile driver. The driver you currently have is excellent. And second, before WGT reduced the Nike equipment by 5 levels, wasn't that the gap (i.e. nothing between 91 and 96) previously?

If it weren't for short memories, some folks would have no memories at all.

Woodoworkery bought them. He said he was very disappointed in their performance. Seems he expected them to perform better than the Nike Vapors even though they had   exactly the  same specs except for a 0.2 decrease in meter speed. Not sure what his beef was.

    Thank you.

I wasn't looking for them to be any better, I was just checking they weren't somehow worse, despite identical stats apart from meter.

I know it's mad to buy them, I really do.  I just really like Callaway gear..........

I bought them yesterday and I love them, at least at the moment I do!

Probably just because it keeps me a bit more concentrated having new clubs and therefore my scores are slightly better than normal, sure it'll wear off soon enough.

I don't mind the driver I have at the moment except that I wanted the Nike for the slower swing speed. Being older, my hand eye coordination isn't exactly what it used to be.

Yes, WGT reduced the Nike to 95 after a few months at 100. I guess maybe they thought, or heard from players then, that that gap was too much.

Striving for something only to have it pulled out from under you leaves a slightly sour taste on the pallet. Yes yes, I know. It wasn't WGT's fault that Nike pulled out of the golf club industry. But not having a replacement, after knowing for months that Nike was out, wasn't exactly a good call either.

But then we are talking about WGT.

But the reason WGT reduced the NIke clubs was that Nike was getting out of the equipment business and the clubs would eventually be pulled from the pro shop. The reduction wasn't a response to complaints about a gap that was perceived to be too big.

The reality is that the current gap is what it looked like before the Nike reduction. Here's what it looked like:

    • TaylorMade R15 Driver: L90+
    • MAX Meter 9.5° Driver: L91+
    • Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 9.0 Driver (Fubuki shaft): L96+
    • TaylorMade R1 Super TP 8.0 White Driver (OBAN shaft): L98+
