The game will exterminate itself if clubs keep getting better. What's the point, apart from attempting to bale as much hay while the sun shines? Going to have to brainstorm other revenue sources other than selling "upgraded" clubs, otherwise WGT will living on borrowed time. Pull your heads in.
I agree with this yet players still clamour for new clubs, improved clubs. With the top players shooting low 50's is the goal to see the top players shooting high 40's....then what?
Unfortunately WGT only sees revenue, not longevity and as scoring has become so unrealistic (that horse bolted a long time ago and no-one could be bothered to close the gate), why stop producing better clubs with better attributes as this is one area they can sell more product.
If attributes improve, it should have a risk versus reward equation.
With many players who do upgrade, many of these are not spending new money, just using accrued credits, therefore it is debateable how much new money is generated at the higher levels.
I cannot see the reins being pulled in, and the game will slowly become another TWO. The only difference that mastering the game will take longer until those high spec clubs become available....then the players will get bored.
With the disappearance of Nike, this really was the opportunity to peel back equipment, especially high attribute balls, but this would cost the business in terms of revenue. Especially balls, the big revenue earner.
The "brainstorming sessions" result in gimmicks or poorly implemented releases so I have no confidence that anything will change.
WGT has never cared about loyalty and whilst new players arrive to replace the players leaving, nothing will change. A business should strive for excellence, WGT strives to maximise profits.
The trees long for peace but the wind will never cease.
