How about changing the Avatar swing. Instead of seeing the backswing and then following thru and hitting the ball, you would go thru the meter as so and then after that is all said and done, the avatar would then do a complete swing accordingly? Basically like most other golf games. Thanks. hope that makes sense...

For starters, changing the way the avatar swings would decimate about half the golfers here, if not more. Those jerks in the backswing are crucial to many as they are empirical reference points to gauge strength. (Aids like Shot Pal would have to be a necessity, otherwise.)  I'm not sure that was the original intent by WGT but it certainly has morphed into a very accurate swing aid, seeing those avatar moves.

For your idea to happen you would have to rely strictly on the meter and whatever gauging method you use like the Shot Pal or piece of tape or whatever. Seeing the swing as you make it happen allows you to develop a rhythm of sorts, too. Changing anything after all this time would be a disaster for many.

A reasonable compromise might be for there to be an option to view your shot in the first person, with the avatar completely gone. That would be interesting. Sure would play hell with my putting, though-I neeeeed those moves.  ;-)

and can you imagine the bugs that would accompany such a change....it is totally mind boggling !

Unfortunately, I would expect one day the moves might disappear. There aren't any on the mobile platform and while  PC and mobile aren't compatible, if Flash ever turns into what the mobile version uses, those moves would be gone. IDK if that's even possible.

I just feel that those backswing increments are somewhat cheating if you may. Thanks for letting me know about the bugs...great input!

How is this cheating?  It's available to everyone.  If this is cheating so is shot pal , putter pal, and making your own ruler for the swing meter area.

You're kidding. How do YOU gauge how hard to swing?

Be careful with your answer. With your logic, anything you say could be considered a cheat.

LOL   no different than thinking of the clock face when dialing in wedge distance IRL. Right?

Interesting post, Haze. That would totally explain why those moves are there in the first place. I never understood if they were necessary for the way the game works or just a byproduct of the way it's rendered.

(Might be having a DUH moment here. )
