Just a couple of things to note...

WGT "does" have a program running with the meter to deter auto ding programs, they admitted it a couple of years ago when the updates had the game totally messed up and they had to shut it down...that's old news.

Sometimes browser and/or flash updates are not compatable with the game, just roll it back to previous version(s) and turn off auto updates...

The browser/flash/WGT isn't always the problem...once the game started playing like sh!t for me and nothing I did was helping to get it fixed for a couple of days...I was watching the file names loading and noticed one that wouldn't load, checking the file out I found out it was associated with my ZoneAlarm software firewall...

Updated the firewall and the game was back to normal...I have no idea why to this day but the firewall was the problem, and I have read and heard of other similar incidents...

Almost any browser will work if setup correctly for WGT, it is something else more times than not, you just have to find it...

WROING!  The meter stops briefly, a split second, then jumps to the far end of the spectrum. It's been doing it for months.  Let's talk about inconsistencies.  A 15 mile an hour crosswind (like a clock pointing at 3:00) does not move a perfectly hit drive at all.  The next whole a trailing wind (like a clock pointing to 1:00) moves a perfect drive 60 yards across the fairway.  Several times I have had puts under 10 feet that I hit 6' to 7' and the put goes 20' on flat ground.  I have 5' downhill puts go 3.5' and 5' uphill puts go 10 feet, and no, it's not because of the green speed, it is an inconsistency.  This game is FULL of inconsistencies and it's taking the joy out of playing.  When a glitch happens (a 14 mph crosswind does not affect ball flight) and it adds strokes to my game, that's NOT fun.

A game booster can help shutting down background tasks/processes.

Smooth meter - Optimizing your Windows computer

The meter plays on your computer. If it doesn't play smoothly for you something on your computer is keeping your computer's CPU to busy. You want a minimum of apps running in the background and preferably only 1 tab open - the WGT game client.

Both system and browser caches need to be cleared and making sure the computer's registry is cleaned up also helps.

WRO I NG!  The meter stops briefly, a split second, then jumps to the far end of the spectrum. If I'm not mistaken, all that would make me more "right", than wrong!

Lets just say that the majority of players here don't see any of that very often, the few that do need to read up on "WHY" they get those inconsistencies, when you understand that and get better equipment 95% of it goes away, been there before myself...when it happens and I look at the shot over again, it is usually something I did, not WGT...

    Good luck

Experienced this brief stop and jump myself and it used to drive me insane. No way to beat it so I taught myself to lift my finger off the mouse button or away from the screen as soon as I see that brief stutter. It's no harder than learning to hit the ding in reality.

I was having the same problems. I run Maxthon 5 to play after the horrible experience of trying Chrome. Apparently WGT uses some of the same thingamabobs Maxthon uses.

I'm sure Dan could elaborate on that with his knowledge of computers.

Started having meter issues again not long ago. One of the smarter folks in my CC said try this. driver booster.php

It's free and it was a huge help.

    Good luck out there.

Ok I say this right up front.... I really know nothing about computers and how they run.  Nada, Zip.  I turn it on and click here and there and do my face book thing and my wgt thing.  It's a new computer and up until last week wgt was playing fine...smooth meter.  I have Edge as a browser and like I said since Christmas the game played fine.  Now I play 4 holes and the meter goes to hell.  From the start of the blue power on shot/putter pal the bar travels about 1/4 inch or more and then takes off all the way to the right.  Or it stutters. The first 3 holes no problem...

I have always cleared everything, one of the first things I learned from Gary Pinhunter.  From this thread I learned to look at the CPU meter.  Not sure what I'm seeing but the  utilization % is about 44 to 52 % and the graph doesn't have hugh   spikes, it seems to remain constant ( like you would hold down the m key.. mmmmmmmmmmm ..not ^m^^^).  even during and after the 4th hole.

Even the animation of the ball rolling across the green is affected, it stutters as well.  Like I said it worked fine until last week then bang. I have nothing else running, I wouldn't know how to run something else.  Oh I also only have the game client open, I close wgt.. Any help out there would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Dave

    PS

I have tried Firefox and Maxthon, suggested by members of my cc and have the same issue.

    DAputts:
    I have always cleared everything,

Big mistake. Every time you clear everything you have yo load it all back in to cache which makes you game run slower due to having to reload everything from the site instead of just loading it from cache. All that extra loading can also put extra strain on your processor which can cause meter issues. Just read the FAQ's, WGT recommends only clearing your cache after a update or if you are getting some very strange results.

If it is a new computer you most certainly do have many other programs running in the background. Computer makes put so many programs and services on their new computers that run as soon as the computer boots to that most new computers are glutted with the stuff. Things like print spoolers and the like that use lots of resources that you don't even know are running in the background.

A rather inexpensive way to help your meter and game run better is simply by adding more ram. My old PC had only 2 gig of ram and I had to run game booster for a decent  meter the one I am on now has 4 gig and my meter is smooth except when the Aim Arc is always on. My other PC that has 8 gig of ram never has a meter issue.
