I have to log in with my handle and password every time I want to play even though I click the remember me box each time. It didn't used to happen like that. Any ideas on how I can get back to having the game remember me again?

First thing to check is to see that you don't have your browser set to clear at exit. That will cause that.
Secondly for some reason the remember me box logged in with your player name and password doesn't work with some browsers. If you have a Facebook account log in through Facebook with the remember me box checked and you might stay logged in. I had to do that on Microsoft Edge.

How do I check my browser settings? I don't do Facebook, so that won't help me. Also, I only have this problem with my laptop computer, and not with my desktop. But as I said before, my laptop used to allow me to play without having to log in every time, but now it doesn't.

Which browser do you use to play the game? Chrome, FireFox, IE, Maxthon .....
Your OS might help too. Windows 10, 8 ,7 or Mac maybe.

But yep, most likely cookies set to delete on closing. It's in every browser setting.
