I was hoping someone could explain this. Here is a screenshot of the replay showing the stats on the shot. I hit the ding on this shot, and the ball hit after 1 yard, then rolled 152 yards. In almost 1200 ranked rounds, I had never seen this. Can this happen from an uphill lie, or is it an error. This was in wk 27 unlimited tournament play (not uneven lies). The shot was a full 3w at 98% from the fairway. And even if somehow it was switched to punch, this still wouldn't seem right to me. Any insight?

Looks like you didn't have enough loft to clear the upslope that was in front of you. How did you have your spin dot set?

Spin is -99% (bs), and most irritatingly the flight apex is 28 ft ?during a 1 yds carry??

    Weird - no explanation available.

This has nothing to do with loft, setup, spin, swing, anything. By the description of the event it's obvious it was some sort of rare glitch. Any kind of missed hit is going to go farther than 1 yard! And this one went another 150+.

I would write it off to some odd math error in the game, like those shots that hit the pin and wind up 300 yards away.

p.s., Woulda like to have seen the OP's expression when this happened. LOL

Maybe you played a "punch shot" by accident and with the lower trajectory hit the hill and hence went the extra 150.

Just a thought. I know you said you may not have but.......

I would have kept wondering, but someone just shared a replay to my wall. There is definitely some kind of glitch when playing a shot from that spot. It definitely acts as if the trajectory is too low with a full 3w, but I believe that to be more of a glitch than how it should be. In the replay, their ball travels farther than mine did before hitting the top of the hill. Mine only traveled 1 yard and had a 28' apex. Obviously that is an error.

Yeah....28' up for a yard long = glitch me finks.

    They are rare but exist.

I had forgotten about the one at the Beth F9 Par 5.  In front of that bunker exists a place where a wedge goes off at an acute angle that leaves a shot from well in the right rough ................Been here for years that glitch.  Reminded me why short left of that bunker is good:)

This is what bug reports are for. Unfortunately you have to submit them at the time of the event. That replay could help WGT, though. There very well may be something correctable there if they know about it. Seen a lot of invisible branches get fixed over the years like this. :-)

    These replays

3 Wood Approach to Erin Hills #8

3 Iron Approach to Erin Hills #8

    show the following:

    - at least the 3WD shot ain't from FW but from "2-5%" rough. It hops quite well through the rough after 100 yds.

    - the replays are botched by the system, missing information (no lie indication, no shot length in the second) and presenting different views.

"one of these places" as YJ stated...

Am guessing it is this. The way it works, the system "knows" that you hit the slope but the visuals don't depict this well. It's like when you can't clear the lip of a bunker: you get a short shot that exits the bunker but the visuals do not show the ball actually hitting the lip.

I had a similar thing recently at St. George's 7th hole, hitting a 3-wood from the left of the fairway and not clearing the gunk inside the dogleg.
