The other thing to remember is that the down slope can be used to one's advantage. The other day, I had over 275 to the back pin and was hitting into a significant headwind.
I used my 3 wood, hit the down slope, and got it on to the green. While it left me with a long put (about 65 feet or so because of the substantial roll out), that's a manageable two putt on that green to that pin.
