I’ve read through this thread with some interest, because, I am a software engineer. While it is possible to create a subroutine that accurately times mouse clicks (as seen on YouTube WGT Cheats); to create a program that ‘plays the game for you’ would either require access to the source code or some very skillful reverse-engineering. So, my professional opinion is: 1) It is possible to write/use a routine that controls mouse click timing. 2) It is exceptionally unlikely that anyone has a program that plays the game for them. 3) A mouse click timer would be completely undetectable by the admin of WGT (because, it's independent of the game).
As many in this thread have implied: People exist who just have incredible ‘twitch’ and intuition about virtual spatial relationships. It's not surprising there are people who are nearly unbeatable without any assistive program. These types make great fighter pilots and/or astronauts. Some just happen to like WGT and they should not be accused of cheating.
A legitimate use of mouse click timers might be for people who are handicapped in some way. People also exist who physiologically can never have 'twitch'. A 'cheat' program like this could allow them access to the enjoyment the rest of get from WGT.
