I could easily sit and listen to Neil Peart play the drums all day long, but those of you linking rock guitarists are way off base.  No rock guitarist ever, including Hendrix, Satriana, Malmsteen, Johnson, Rhodes came close to this guy.  This is called virtuosity.

Having said that, my band is the Grateful Dead above any others.

How about one from a man that was way ahead of his time.

Holy crap, I haven't heard that song in forever. I saw him a long time ago. I thought only Canadians knew him!

Thank you so much for starting this thread. I've been trying hard to reload my ipod with stuff, and I'm getting all kinds of great ideas here!!!

I will give you guys a few as well. Some are older, some are what I'm liking now:

Well, my absolutely favorite song of all time, that I could just listen to over and over is Bob Marley - No Woman, No Cry

Here is a song that is slower, old, mad sexy, everything Nina Simone - Feelin' Good

I love everything she does, here is a nice easy song Alicia Keys - I Will Make The Darkness Light

A remake that I love maybe even more than the original by Van Morrison, and the guy singing is from my hometown!!! Colin James - Into The Mystic

I think this song is just beautiful. There is something so powerful about someone who can sit at a piano, play and just sing out Chantal Kreviazuk - Time (Official Video) - RIP Britney Murphy and here's a killer version just her and a piano Time. I heard she was doing stuff performances with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra last year, wish I could have seen it!

I don't even know what you call her kind of music, but its great. It's like R&B meets Doo-Wop meets Jazz meets old time rock n roll. Anyway, totally loving it Divine Brown - Lay It On The Line. No, she is not the Divine Brown that Hugh Grant loved long time.

Music that makes me dance Beenie Man - Back It Up, BLESTeNATION - Cruel Summer, Chaka Demus - Murder She Wrote, Eve - Tambourine.

Some other stuff I like Sean Kingston/Nicki Minaj - Dutty LoveCutty Ranks - A Who Seh Me Dun, Willie Nelson/Norah Jones - Wurlitzer Prize,

And some mushy music. Love this guy's voice, and the video is so touching Train - Marry Me. My first crush was Nathan Morris, I wonder what ever happened to these guys? Whatever, I bet he's still delicious Boys II Men - End of the Road. Anything by Etta James is always good, and I was even pleasantly surprised at how well Beyonce did portraying her in Cadillac records. You guys have already done some Johnny Cash, he was incredible. Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac...god I love music so much.

And, lest I forget, my WGT soundtrack after I duff a shot. I listen to this A LOT...

Lots of great names trotted out in this thread, and nice to see Rush included (as they should be!).

I didn't realize this was a Best Of thread or a One up thread.

Thought it was just a music thread.   Leave the top 100 list to VH1 and Rolling Stone magazine.

How about just posting some stuff your digging on at the moment instead of trying to play music historian or critic.

And with that said I'm gona Spoon feed you one more time before changing it up.

Really dig this one.   Unique groove.

Wrong side of the bed this morning, mate?

Ummm...."playing music historian or critic."  WTF??

I thought I was doing what the OP requested, "...or just simply name their favorite songs and artists."

Sorry if I offended your sensibilities.  Next time let me know in advance, and I'll make sure to use a 2x4 instead.....

Settle down Francis.   I just picked your post because it illustrated my point about listing  or rating a band.

Specifically when you say "nice to to Rush included(as they should be!)

So I gotta ask ,  included in what?  a music thread?,  because that's what this is..... so..... or do you mean.....idk....what do you mean?   Rush is a good band don't get me wrong but whatever.....they are include as they should be! so your happy and that's all that matters.

Oh, and uh,   I got your  2x4 right here:

Nope, but I'll be the first to admit that he never caught on in the states like he should have. Too bad too, very talented individual.

I also forgot THIS the first time around. if you haven't seen a concert at Red Rock, add it to your bucket list......

Holy crap, love it. That is definitely going on my bucket list. I recently started ticking things off my list, now Red Rock is getting added. I think I'm gonna need to live to 500 to get through everything, lol
