Can someone tell me, when you get stuck in a rough and it says something like "30-45% lie" -- what does that mean? Does that mean you're only going to get that percentage of your swing power or club distance? Please help!

It's an approximation of how deep you are in the rough. The smaller the number, the less you are in.

Let me rephrase that: on a 30-40% lie I will add 35-40% to my total yardage that I wanting to hit the ball. So, if I have a 35-yard shot and my lie is in a 30-40% rough, I will add 40% to the 35 yards… 35YD+40%=49. So, I will pick a shot that will get me to the 49-yard mark.

OH, that's it? So there's no way to calculate how it will affect your shot?

    Golfindoog:
way to calculate how it will affect your shot

Copy/Paste of one I put up in CC Forums a while back.

    ----------------------

    How I handle the rough.

Disclaimer: A while back WGT added some VEM to rough. This was at the same time they messed with the wind, but that's another story. There will be instances where the rough has absolutely no effect. I find these more at RSG than anywhere else, but all courses have this. This is WGT's take on catching a flyer.

Generally add the appropriate percentage of distance to your calculations. This does not apply to Fescue, Brush or Mulch. Those are different. This applies to plain deep grass rough.

    20/30 - 3%

    25/30 - 7%

    30/40 - 12%

    40/50 - 23%

Worse than that? Just get back into play.

    Hope this helps.

Most welcome. Still better off keeping fairways and greens.

    :^)

I should've pointed out the following

    Link

There you'll find excellent help on all things WGT.

I should also have included the normal caveat that what works for me and my clubs may need some adjustment for you and yours. Decent starting point, though.

    Good luck.
