I was told by a fellow player during a round that he uses the zoom to help his putting.  I tried it and it froze my pc, and had to turn it off and come back to finish the round.  Any advise would be helpful.  My nickle.

Never heard this one before. I gave it a go. No freeze. Could be a browser issue.

It did make the moving dots pop. I suppose that might help alignment with practice.

Zooming on the meter was no help whatsoever. No easier to ding.

Maybe the guy is myopic. Otherwise I'd say he was having you on.

    Still. Interesting to try.

I did that for a few months a few years ago. The main problem with it is that because you usually can't see the scale you could change your scale and not know it and either fly past the hole or come up way short.

I still occasionally line up my putts that are difficult to read using zoom allowing you to see the dots a little better.

Not sure it froze, I have never had that issue.

But I seldom use it, occasionally on Kiawah, especially those zero read putts - it does help a little to guess the break......and occasionally on Merion for those invisible breaks - not that anything other than a bulldozer there would really aid my putting.......

Try it using a different browser. And when we have played, I did not notice you having any issues putting......you buried everything :)

I thank all of you that took the time to reply to my question.  I will try it again.  As suggested it may be able to help in those situations where the breaks are very hard to see/or read.  Our nickle.

FWIW, I tried something out of frustration that appears to be fairly consistent on those types of putts-leave the default aim alone, get the speed right and ding it. I use this when there's multiple breaks or slightly conflicting views between forward and reverse and am having surprising results. The key is getting the speed right.
