Hi Lou i hear what you are saying we too have a few experienced players not coming forward, where is Avatarlee, coolswing, shaghar, juliomoot to name a few from last years team although we do seem to have a lot of new blood in team international the experience these guys have will be missed.

Where's Bollox, Ahudd, Werksux, Cyl6, TugboatDoug, Carlos, Craiger, or Price, .. I could go on and on and on.    The US team is not getting out the vote !!!!!

lol i had to beg a few last year. I sent reminder message after reminder message. I bugged the living shiot out of em :)

I spent more time sending messages than I did playing lmao

being captain takes work lol (if you wanna call it work)

best of luck to both squads

Geordie .. you hit it right on the head.   While both teams are missing some of the "studs" of the past ....the world team has the better "new blood" players turning out.  I have a pretty good sense of what's going on in WGT land as a lot of folks pop into IRC and chat about things .... based on what i see I don't feel the US team will get that "new blood" turnout.   At least not with the same caliber player as the World team.

    We shall see ....

By the way ... Shag stopped playing in January, Coolswing was on holiday, Lee's been stuck working a lot  ... dont' know about Julio ... but if i had to guess he's probably down in the school yard.    (a little Paul Simon humor there) .. :)

After going over some things I wouldn't count out the USA team and I'm not only saying this because I am in the US. Yes the world team has some outstanding players which are veterans and also the same with the new blood, but the US has players that are trying out that can handle pressure situations which is a big part of competitiveness. Instead of focusing on the BIG players that haven't even hit there first qualifier, should be more focused on the ones that are posting scores and keeping up with there stats to see how much they are improving or not. Mainly speaking in terms of the people in the running for captain. I know if I were running (which I am not) this would be my main concerned because i would want the ones that really do want to be apart of this great event. I have been looking forward to this since I started playing again back in December where I came back to play after taking a year break. Coming back as a level 30 master after a year it was like starting all over again as a hack but on harder tees. Since then I have moved up to legend and have been shooting pretty consistently with hard work and the help of a good friend of mine on wgt mohuyu who has helped me improve my game tremendously.

Anyway, in situations like this anything can happen and I don't see either team to be an underdog so I'm placing a 50/50 chance for both teams. Good luck too you all in everything that you do.

Hi Les, great to see you put yourself forward for captain. I know from the experience we shared in the WGTLS Ryder Cup a few months ago, that you are an outstanding candidate for the job. Better still, you were a winning captain, despite nobody giving our team a chance.

If the team spirit shown in the ROTW team in the WGTLS Ryder Cup can be re-created in this one, whoever is voted captain, the team will have a great chance of winning.

ps Can you send me cash this time to avoid extra administration for the wife :^)

Coming from a sports mad country called Australia.

U never count out the underdog. USA maybe missing a few players but any team they put out will be a strong one & playing for your country any player will lift to the occasion.

To Jay and the others ...

Just so you are aware .. I had been asked a month ago to run the Ryder Cup "Wagering" thread.    So I am trying to show an un-biased opinion which I usually have towards the USA.

We'll be ready with the betting thread after the teams are selected ... so be prepared .... but it will involve wagering at least 1 sleeve of callaway balls.    This one's not a free ride.

Stay Tuned - More to come.

Thanks Chris your help as my vice captain was immense in the teams success the many hours you put in checking stats etc was much appreciated. I think whoever becomes captain and whoever plays on both teams it will still be a very hard fought match and it will enevitibly come down to who holds their nerve under the pressure.

    ps cheque in the post
